Why wasn't this ever stickied? We need a better DIY section in this place. The DIY section that we currenty have is hard to find unless you hunt it out. And when you finally find it 1/2 the threads photos X out because all of the photos are dead.

I think I should start a DIY site that rescues all of the DIY (lost and broken - current) DIY threads from various forums and rehosts them and the jpegs on it's own server.

This project is baddass man. good job.

This is a GREAT DIY.

I am just curious though, how has it held up to sunlight so far?

I have a feeling that UV might kill the plastic and turn it yellow. Kind of reminds me of some of the clear taillights that were sold for civics.. They turned yellow after any decent UV exposure.

If I make something, I just want to be sure it'll hold up before taking the time and spending the money. Haha, i'm sure making these requires a lot of patience.

Hey guys. I just found that Tap Plastics has videos on their website that shows how to do this entire process....granted they use a plastic christmas tree, but the process is the same. They sell all the products needed there also.

(smiles) "gonna do it...."

The question I have is, does it even work as a reflector? Or it purely cosmetic.

I put mine in about a year ago and are still clear......thats not to say they will turn yellow tomorrow ......i guess it also depends on the resin used since there are several different ones outthere

If you still have the molds, I would love to get my hands on a set of these. Mind PM-ing me and letting me know that is possible?

I know this is an old thread and flame away I guess for bringing it up but I was able to make reflectors using a similar to this process. I just wanted to add this information if anyone else is looking to get into a project like this.

Clear Reflectors Project

Default Reviving, yet again

This was the best I've seen so far. I have been browsing for quite some time and this post was the closest to finding out how to do this. Unfortunately for me, I reside in Germany, employed by the US Army and am unable to find the materials locally. In addition to that, USPS will not ship hazardous materials overseas. If I send my lens out to you guys, would you be able to produce them in clear form for me?
