Default Baker Precision 125/PB34 battery

hey guys, I was looking at PB34 battery by Baker Precision. It's got 500 CCA, 34Ah and weighs only 23lbs.

It seems to be a reasonable compromise for daily driven car with occasional track days. However, the warranty on this battery is only 6 months. The customer service guy told me that it is this short because battery is marketed as a race battery.

I was wondering if anyone owned it long enough to comment on how long it may last? or if there are any issues?

I asked BP rep what company makes a core battery for Baker, but the rep was not willing to provide that info. I read somewhere in the forums that it might be related to Hawker Genesis series, but could not get a definitive confirmation. On the other hand, Genesis series batteries do not have a model with parameters listed for PB34. Closest one is G26, but it does not quite match CCA, Ah, weight. Thank you for the comments.

The Hawker Odyssey pc 925 would have a 2 year automotive use warranty....the Genesis batterys are not automotive rated

Default Pb34

Connection of Baker Precision battery to Hawker is only speculative, I did not see any official documentation linking them. Did you?

At the moment I am trying to decide between Baker Precision 125/PB34 and Odyssey PC925MJ. I do not like the shorter warranty on PB34, but its parameters are somewhat better (23lbs,500CCA vs 26lbs,380CCA for Odyssey PC925). PB34 is also warranted for automotive use.

The sales rep at Baker suggested that PB34 should handle just fine under normal driving conditions, and that they limit warranty to 6 month only because of race related applications. The guy sounded trustworthy, however I wanted to get an opinion from users with real life experience.

....d00000d.....I did VERY-VERY extensive research in this several years ago and I have had a pc680, the same battery, in 2 of my WRX's.....in use since SEP03.

I will, without any doubt, buy another Odyssey battery.

I've had an Odyssey PC925MJ installed in my mach 1 for two years now. It's never let me down.

thanks for the vote of confidence on Odyssey, looks like it's a pretty good choice!

I'm still interested to hear about any first hand experience with Baker Precision batteries. here are the answers to questions I posted through the Baker website.
-------------------------------------------------------------
Hello there-

I am interested in some basic info on PB34 battery:

- is it approved for automotive use (looking for 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX, daily driver)
YES
- can it be used with SAE terminals
No, you would need different terminals, these would bolt from the side
- what kind of warranty does it have
one year
- what company makes core battery for Baker Precision PB34 spec battery
Cores are made in the US by an aircraft mfg
- how much is for shipping to NJ
about $ 29.00

Thanks.
