Default how much do you pay to get a shirt tailored/altered???

so i have a big neck (18) and arms on the longer side (34-35) but all the dress shirts in this category look like giant mumu's on me because my body and arms arent that large. off the shelf shirts in that range have a recomend body size of 50-57' where im more of a 38-42. so how much should i expect to pay to get them tailored down more to my size???

Wouldn't it just be cheaper to have a shirt made for you?

tack on another $8-12 then. you may as well have some custom made.
you'll marginally more but get a much better fit

Not sure if this helps, but you might try shopping at a big/tall store to have a better shot at getting something off the rack to fit. I'm assuming the 'talls' at the big/tall stores aren't as wide through the body (or maybe they make a 'slim' version?).

Try getting darts added to the body and having the sleeves pegged (I think that's what it's called when they take them down from the elbow to shoulder).

Edit: a quick search revealed that Land's End website features a build-your-own-shirt option, starts at $49 and has an option for a more tailored fit. Might be an option if you don't want to hassle with finding someone to alter shirts for you.

one of the shirts i have is fitted style shirt. the sleves are still too big and so is the body. it flares out the top and bottom and is fitted as it were in the middle.

might be harder to find someone to make me shirts than it would to alter them???
