Default Help!!! My Alternator is not charging.

I don't know what else to do. Here's the deal. I have an 03 WRX. I installed an Avic D3 over the weekend. It was working fine but then my car died. At first I was thinking I need a new battery so I got one. The end of that day, my car died again. No power. So I assumed it was an alternator problem. Tested it and sure enough it was reading around 11.93 on the voltmeter. So I bought a new alternator. Installed it and went off to my day. A couple hours later, my car's electricity was flickering so I turned my car off. I tested it with the VM and same reading 11 ish. I took it off and took the new alternator and old one back to pepboys and had them test both. Both worked perfectly fine. I thought maybe I wired the D3 incorrectly So I took the unit out and the harness off and started the car. Reading is still 11 ish. What else should I look for? Please help someone.

Look for a blown fuse to the ignition signal wire going to the alternator. If the alternator was checked out, and it's fine, the problem is the car.

Check for good power, good grounds. If both check out, the alternator is not charging because the alternator needs power to energize the magnetic field when you turn the ignition on, before the engine is started. If the alternator does not energize first, it will not produce current no matter how fast you spin it.

Thanks man. Figured out the problem. Basically, when I tapped into the VSS wire behind the intrument cluster, I didn't plug one of the plugs in all the way. I guess the alternator needs to read voltage and when the plug wasn't plugged in, it wasn't reading anything so it wasn't working. Now I get 14+ on the voltmeter. Such a stupid mistake that caused me so much headache
