Default Turn signal problems! Please help

Hey guys I have a 96 Impreza Brighton and I swapped my stock front bumper for a v4 WRX bumper. The turn signal connectors were different so the wires were spliced into my stock harness. Before we did this, my turn signals worked. We tested the turns after we swapped the bumper and the right side worked really strong (front, fender, and rear). The left side was really dim like it wasn't getting the right amount of power. The hazards were tested right after and they flashed dim. Inside the car the hazard arrows were also dim. We tested the turns again and they didnt work at all, and didnt flash inside, and then the hazards didn't flash. I get the car home (I was in new york at the time) and then the hazards started to work and then didnt. I then reversed the wiring and the hazards worked really dim. I disconnected the driver side turn and the hazards worked as strong as they should have been working. I then used a test light to check the fuses for the left and right side and they were both dead. There was no power going to them. Today I decided to try replacing the bulbs and noticed that the left front turn had a brand new socket that was different than the one on the driver side. If I replace the driver side socket will my turn signals work? Has anyone out there had a problem like this?

I can't see how changing the socket will make any difference since it just holds the bulbs, unless the socket is damaged somehow, and you can check that out. From your post it sounds to me that you have either a wire connection error or possibly a grounding problem on the left side lights. First make sure that all the bulbs are the same type numbers on both of the front sides.

One easy thing you can do to check things out is isolate the wiring to the left side lights and then take a jumper lead directly from the battery's positive side and connect it to each of the bulb circuits for the left side. Be careful not to short the lead to ground if the lead isn't fused. If none of the lights glow properly when checked then look for a bad ground connection to the chassis. Once you have determined that the lights work ok being tied directly to the battery then see if the connections to light system make them work as they should. If they still have a problem then you need to look at the wiring going to the left front lights. The flasher unit may be at fault.
