I heard a rumor that the U.S. is the only market that actually does like the new body wrx...and that the only reason it wasn't pulled earlier is because of the INSANE demand that we American's have given FHI to meet.

Actually, Subaru was originally going to restrict the number of units sent here. Because they weren't selling aywhere else they shifted production to us. THAT is why we ended up with what? 19000 WRXs last time I checked...

Not true, the original run was planned at 10,000 but never "restricted" per se --- Subaru has an incentive from the Federal Government to make cars locally so they have to watch how many cars they import total per year -- what they did was (I heard) reduce the number of Foresters being imported so they could bring in more Imprezas. (both are made in Gunma).

This car is awesome. The different headlights makes it look much better. I read that the 2003 WRX will be in dealerships next month (AUG 02). Is this true? I was planning on buying the 2003 when it comes out. I hope it looks like this one??? I'm going to wait for the one that looks like this one... hopefully not never!

S.O.A. would be absolutely stupid to not advertise a new breed of wrx. Not only would it not notify the people potentially interested, but it would also bring the spotlight to them as an automanufacturer (more than it is currently). Does anyone agree???

Personally, I'd take this one in a heartbeat!! Supersweet.

For some reason, it's reminds me a lot of a Porsche 959 now; better than a Neon though.

I can see the dialogue now:

Q? : What year Impreza do you have?

GC8 Owner: Old skool, baby!

Q?: Awesome!

Q:? And how about you?

2002 Owner: The ugly one...

Q?: Bummer!

hmmm...the sloped hood looks slightly, just slightly better. However if the powers to be was to even consider that as "the redesign" then they should just save the money (and themselves furthur anguish). Instead put JDM projectors and/or hid's on all Imprezas in addition to MAJOR cosmetic changes within the current sheetmetal and write it off as a lost cause until the MY05/06 cylcle redesign.

Personally, I think Subaru should shift aways from the round headlights.

The wrx in silver looks like some prototype of the current model, it looks very much like the concept drawings I've seen 2 years ago. I really doubt it'll be the facelift since it doesn't make that much difference to satisfy European and Japanese's taste.

Did anyone else read this in December when it was written (and posted)? Sorry for the bad vibes, but I just really want to see what the hell they are doing over there in England instead of all the speculation!

I like the silver redisign that looks like a 2000 2.5 RS merged with a WRX. Spiffy.
