Impreza WRX STi Impreza headlight housing with sti HIDS, will it work?

The other day some guy backed into my car in a parking lot. He took out my driver headlight and bumper. My car is a 04 sti with EDM headlights. Through many hours of searching I cannot find another EDM headlight. Unfortunately for me right now I'm a little short on funds and would like to get this fixed quickly. During the bump only the lens and housing were damaged. The bulbs and everything else are intact and functioning. I was thinking of taking a regular wrx housing and lens clearing it so it matches the EDM passenger light and than go on my merry way. Ive read of people putting HID kits into their wrx lights so I'm assuming the temperature of the HIDS will not affect the housing. Will the swap work? If not what will I have to do to make it work? Thanks for your input.
