we will have them instock for all the subaru's even the 4-pots the order will ship tomorrow so hopefully we will have them by next week. i have both rs4 and r4 coming in for all the cars pricing will follow. www.subaruwrxparts.com and for people like redobs who want the 4pots we can do them now with the r4s instead of the stock subaru pads.

Nate - I've driven the R4 race pads around town for a week and to/from the track day in Canada. My experience is that the R4 stops as well as the stock Subaru pads when cold. I was expecting poor stopping performance, but was actually pleasantly surprised. However, the noise and dust, especially noise, would drive me crazy if I were to keep them on. And they cost like 50% more than the R4S street pads.
![]() And for others who're considering Porterfields... I'll say that they have awesome stopping power. However, their "fit and finish" quality is kind of infamous. So, be prepared to take out a metal file and spend some time. Also, they don't come with the anti-rattling clips, nor the notches on the back for the backing plates. So, if you like your pads to fit perfectly like stock ones, look elsewhere. But if you want stopping power, these are nice pads. I think Pat Olsen and redobs will agree. -Ray |

Thanx Ray.
Once I get a motor in the Honda I wont be driving the RS much except for when Im racing etc. So the R4s might not be a bad choice. |

Ray the fitment of the rear pads should be fixed because they have a pad just for the rear of the wrx.

What are the prices on these?? I'd be interested in a set of Street pads for both my 4 pots front and my stock rear brakes.
Thanks, Fitz |

Bill - Actually, I have no problem at all with the R4 pads I have. But we have to file down Pete's R4S (same fitment number, 770, for WRX rears), and I have heard similar stories from others. I even called them up and ask about it. What I am trying to say here is that perfect fitment isn't a priority with Porterfields. They specialize in race pads, and expect people to accomodate the little flaws they have. Personally, I love them and highly recommend them.
Just to warn those who are expecting a pad that's quiet, no-dust, stops incredibly at any temperature, and fit perfectly. Such pad doesn't exist but some whiners may be expecting that, which Exeter should be aware of.-Ray |

![]() I want it all. It must keep my rims pretty, stop like a supercar all the time, and fit better than stock!! If we all "compromise", then they will never make it the way it should be. Just kidding by the way...When I need new pads Mr. Havery, I'll be contacting you. ![]() Paul G. |

thx, Bill, I prefer email: bo550@yahoo.com
Ernest PS.. I don't know why a lot of people prefer pm over email? don't want to give out email address? for pm, you get email notice when there is new pm coming and then need to go to i-club to check another page for pm.. so much trouble for me.. email for me please unless you don't want me to know your email. |

Good lookin' Bill.
I've been using the R4-S for quite a while now and I've been very pleased with them. They do dust more than stock but they stop much better, don't fade (well there was that one time on rt17 in VT...) and they have great modulation characteristics. My front pads fit perfect but I also had to grind the rears just a wee bit. No big deal we even have to do it on Porsches sometimes with stock pads. -Drew |
