ESX has a subaru motor in their tube frame chassis that is making over 1100whp if I remember correctly. Forgive me if im wrong I could have sworn I heard that somewhere! It runs 8's.... so it only makes sense. ESX is also sandbagging their full chassis car as well. It could easily go 8's from what other have said as well. So there are 1000whp subaru motors out there. Just with a lot of spray!

There are many over 1000hp. Most that I know of or work with dont post dynosheets or brag online because they are race cars with a high sponsorship budget.

wow cool....

I wonder what the big difference between those crazzy 1k HP+ drag engines ....and the ones that we build?

I wonder if my Cobb block could handle 1,000 HP ....

Is it a regular cobb block or custom with lots of extras? I would have to guess it wouldn't handle 1000+ for long unless you specifically built it for that purpose. Maybe for a couple dyno runs though...

Race engines can withstand incredible pressure, but they get rebuilt alot too.

I agree too and it couldn't be more true. Sell your house if you want to make that kind of power... Cuz you're gonna need ALOT of money to make it work.

mechanics don't have that much to do with it...it really is an engineer that makes the difference...aside from that having and engine builder (THE mechanic) who pays painful attention to detail.

It can...but for a VERY short amount of time. My guess would be seconds TOPS. More like a fraction of a second.

I believe their pro series blocks they dont want to put more then 650ish through ($9000ish). This goes for all subaru engine builders, there isnt a huge market for 1000+ hp motors. Not that they couldnt build it, we just couldnt afford it...

They have Supras Really its their engine, go research the supra motor, and the motors in skylines and you will see they have a huge headstart on making that kind of power compared to our engines.

you are fogretting their heads
the extra 2 cylinders do make it a lot easier to get 1000hp worth of air into the engine

our blocks aren't "amazing" yet.

thats why the EVO (whose motor has been around for a LONG time)
can handle a lot of power.

Yeah I am glad the 4G is gone. and the Evo is tiptronic or whatever now.

The EJ has been around, but it has gone through many changes, closed, semi closed. Different litres, different elements to make parts of the motor. It just isn't perfect.

The EJ255 and EJ257 are really good for what they are though. Anything where you can throw drop in pistons and run 500whp reliable is good IMO. They can get the job done.
