Default So I found an engine...

Know how there's some stuff you don't really need, but just keep an ear to the ground if it ever comes along? I'm always checking out what engines are going for. Looking for one just to take apart, learn how Subaru engines go together, and build up for fun on the side over the years.

Found a good start, I think, and a good deal too!

good job man.. you got a good deal to learn on

so, when you dissasemble the block, you'll need a 14mm hex socket, a metal coat hangar, some pliers, 12mm 12pt socket 3/8 drive, 10mm wrench, 12mm wrench, and a breaker bar.

Yea, there is a shipping cost included, usually the seller makes there money from shipping. The selling of the product is always the price breaker.

Would that be a Craftsman or Snap-On coat hanger that I'd need?
Sounds like I have all the other tools. If not, excuse to buy tools!

Hopefully the block and crank are in good shape, that's really all I wanted to start with. I didn't want to pass it up, so we'll see if it's any good.

Default It has begun

So the engine showed up Friday, and my bros. brought out my engine stand Saturday.

Plans for this will be to have the block and crank checked out, and see if I can even sell the rods and pistons in it. Then have it sleeved with stronger rods and pistons. I wonder how many years it will be until this engine is alive again? haha

So, how do you take the block apart?

taking that block apart is tricky. you need to take the pistons out first.

sux cause I just threw out four Phase 1 rods and pistons last week. What was I gonna do with them?!

I do have "everything" you need to turbo that engine tho... DOHC heads, covers, oil pump, water pump, catless up pipe, down pipe etc. Let me know if you want to wheel and deal.

OK, I'm gonna look up my manual and see how to take those out first.

Though I appreciate the offer, I do already have everything else I need to make it turbo as well

He's awesome at tuning the PP6 as well. He shaved almost 2 seconds off my quarter mile with about 2 minutes of tuning between runs.
