Scooby Gal,
I'm the newbie, so you'll have to explain what the difference in auto-x and rally-x. I suppose they are different from street racing?

"FUN RUNS:

Is this the USA equivilent of polo in the UK?

"Come on chaps, dismount and replace those divets!" LOL

Give it some Jamie, i expect to hear of a major scooby thrashing session.

I think I will confuse the girlfriend by offering to go on a nice sunday drive.

"Oh look, there is a rally race today. Let's stop and have a look."

I will try to get out of bed early enough to make the morning session. Just watching though. Since this is my first new car, I am not quite ready to risk the rock chips.

hey gang...

u guys can leave whenever u like...
BUT it's a 3 hour drive and they WILL NOT let you register after registration closes - but if you're just spectating... i'd go later and take it easy...
u think i WANT to leave at 6???
LOL!!!

MOMO -
rallyx is like autox in that this is still a cone course - on dirt/grass
the main difference is this:
in autox YOUR BEST time counts...
in rallyx - ALL YOUR TIMES count for a combined score!! you have to be much more conservative in rallyx if you want to do well.

beware of the water truck!! u do not want to be the 1st car out after the water truck...

or do you ????

SG
It only takes me 2 hours from Tacoma. If I leave at 8am and it takes for some unknown reason an extra hour, I'll still get there 1/2 hour before the afternoon registration closes.

A few extra ZZZs for me. you must be one of those morning people

O.K. O.K.
Sign me up.

Couple of questions (newbie questions):
Where's a good shop to get a SCCA approved helmet at, in the Seattle area? (for autocross too). Any suggestions, pointers for someone who's never participated in any thing like this before, what to expect, car wear, etc.?

wear on the car???

car will get DIRTY!!!
VERRRRRRRRRY dirty...

seriously, the side skirts on mine are toasted underneath... and the front received some scratches - but my car is LOWERED... (not for much longer) so it's a pain in the a$$ - you shouldn't have any issues at the stock height...

also - hints:
remove anything LOOSE in the vehicle... i mean anything... cuz it will go flying...

remove floor mats as they will just get dusty and dirty...

best thing u can do is walk the course - get an idea of how you want to run it... pick your line and try to follow that line in the "parade lap" (which i think is just stupid... parade lap is NOT rally) - but anyway... that's about it... just HAVE FUN!!

oh! bring cooler w/food/drink as u don't want to have to leave and miss any of the action!!!

j.

Looks like I've managed to pull it off and get Sat/Sun off, so I can go to the RallyX. I'm looking forward to getting the car dirty for the third weekend in a row. I guess from Ballard I'll leave at six as well. That would mean we'll be there early to watch the Morning session and then register for the Afternoon, correct? I guess I'll have to get out and buy a Brain Bucket. See everyone there.

Sounds like lots of Subies!!!

As a little enticement, I plan on putting together two awards thingies to give out to the fastest Subie in Open, and the fastest Subie in Production GT.

Possibly a simple 8.5"x11" framed piece of art/photo. Something to hang in your trophy room!

Thumbs up

I'm going.... probably similar time to Jamie. The registration lines were pretty long last year, so it pays to be early. It is about a 3 hr drive or so as Jamie says.

This course is usually pretty easy on cars (unlike the Tenino course).

I'm running in Open on some rented rally tires: my reasoning is that summer tires suck after the water truck comes out, it just isn't any fun. I didn't get my own new rally tires mounted in time, but I'll be using them at the next few events.

If you see me on the highway, I'm in a white 99 with "125" on the side and the license plate "WRX" (I'm optomistically waiting for the new model!!!)
