Default Can you explain the differences between 04 STI and 05 STI?

Are bolt patterns different? That was what I had heard. Which one is 5x100?

What are other differences? Is tranny reworked too? Is 04 the worst STI of the 2?

thanks.

Search on Nasioc
The list is long. Although unless you are autoXing or racing it is minor.

One thing I didn't see listed there (since the US doesn't get heated seats) is that only the driver's seat is heated in '04 but in '05 and up both front seats are heated.

so the bolt pattern diameter has really changed from 5x100 to 5x114.3? This matters to me because I plan on getting rims to be on the STI that I end up buying and I'm currently looking into 5x114.3 rims.

Bolt pattern is different...
rear quarter panel is different...
interior trim is different...
shift knob is different...
head light housing is different...
suspension is different....
rims are different.... (2004 = 17 x 7.5, 2005 = 17 x 8)
shorter shift distance in a 2005 STi...
STi emblem is different...
STi stickers on the fog light covers & side doors are different...

They are what I can think of so far~

And if you buy an '04/'05 from the US they have no heated seats, no heated mirrors, no stereo and no ski pass through for the back seat. But they do have HID headlights and will be cheaper.

About $50 worth of gas every 350km or so.
Add to that, $3600 or so per year of insurance, and the STi is a pricey vehicle.

But so well worth it.

does the Hypa have a bad driving record..... or are you talking before discounts? Just got my renewal yesterday and the insurance on my '05 is 1/2 that.

Just renewed mine. With top discount just under 2000. Still cheaper than my 01 2.5RS coupe!

Now if only I had my own gas company....
