some techs no matter who they work for just aren't really into the work, they never study their manuals they just don't love what they are doing. this can apply to any specialized repair place.
its scary that they can skate by and get away with knowing nothing about these cars, but hey-- that's human nature or is it american culture? hmm...

IMO these people should find something they love, so they can give it their all, have a more rewarding life and job, be happier, and we wouldn't have to deal with stupidity and sloppy work, thats my vision for utopia a realistic one anyway

everyone works in a place they love, and they give it their all, and no sloppy quality products are ever made, and when something is fixed, IT IS FIXED

the best question i ever had came from a cop when he pulled me over. the cop looked at my car,all inside it and walked around it and then he asked me "how much did you spend on your car to make it look like this, and how much was the engine work?" .i was gonna tell him it was all stock but i had this crazy idea and told him " well all together it cost me about $34k" .

lol he gave me this crazy look like he couldnt believe it and he asked "whats it all got in the engine?" and then before i laughed i told him "whatever the factory that makes these cars put in it" . lol he caught on,finally realizing the car came that way. all he told me after that with a smile was "you got me,now get going and dont let me catch you again" and i left.

you know the secret now you must die...

i know a few cops that will let you slide if you make them laugh and the offense was minor, but if your humor is off key you might make them angrier.

so good luck with that.

Got a new one the other day:

Me, person 1, and person 2. Person 1 just got a new WRX. Person 2 just got out of my WRX, and I have a BOV (and its very obvious). We all start talking about Person 1's new WRX, and how Person 2 should get a Subaru.

Me: Hey you should buy an Impreza instead of that mitsubishi eclipse
Person 2: Yeah but I cant afford the STi
Me: why dont you get a WRX?
Person 2: No if I get one im going to get the best.
Me: For the money, the 06+ WRX isnt that far off from the STi. Look at (Person 1)'s WRX.
Person 2: Yeah thats a nice WRX though. You going to install a turbo on it or anything?
Person 1 and me at the same time: Uhhh the WRX comes with a turbo
Person 2:

I was sitting in traffic the other night on my way to go blading with my friends. I put my car in neutral cause I was just checking at what rev my car idles at. I then hit the gas, revving it, and scared the two girls behind me. I looked into my rear view mirror and the girl on the passenger side, made a circle with her hands and her jaw dropped.

I thought it was a funny sight, their look was priceless.

So I'm fueling up after an Autocross in Phoenix near Firebird Raceway. It's right off the I-10 so the stations get a lot of travelers. Fat person, sweating up a storm, with Colorado plates starts talking to me and I can't really tell what gender he/she is.

Pat: Sure is hot.
Me: Hadn't noticed.
Pat: Lots of people live here?
Me: About 4 million.
Pat: Shame. They're taking all our water.
Me: I think there's too many humans on this planet, and anyone concerned about it or the environment should kill themselves and their family.
Pat: ..... (starts walking away)
Me: Have a nice day.

I'd been saving that retort for a while and finally got to use it. The look Sweaty Pat had was all worth it.

so i have 2 more from the last few days.

First:
I was going into work on my day off for a training session for some new software we were implementing. I park in the main parking lot right next to this building. There are no signs that say "Employee Parking Only." I go into the building and I am confronted by a HOUSEKEEPER that says the following.

Her: "Did you park down here?"
Me: (Lying) "No."
Her: "That isn't your Blue Mustang?"
Me: "That's not a mustang, thats a subaru."
Her: "Well you still need to move it"
Me: "Ok..."
-I moved it anyway despite the lack of signage...

Last night:
At the rescue squad standing around talking to 2 guys there.
Moron1: So what do you drive?
Me: Subaru WRX
Moron1: An STI?
Me: No, mines an 03, there were no STI's here till 04.
Moron1: Oh, well can I back it out? I will let you drive my car (a pickup truck)
Me: No. It doesn't need to be backed out of anywhere for the next 10 hours.
Moron2: Hey doesn't your car have twin turbos?
Me: No, just one. I gotta go take a leak (never came back).

OT, but I saw a 95 Mustang GT with one of those Autozone GTR emblems with the R being red and below the GT. I asked him if GTR was a factory model and he told me it was a racing model. I played along and told him that it must be fast like the 2000 Mustang Cobra R with the 5.4 liter, 385 hp motor? He just looked at me with a blank look.

Sounds like you'd get along well with the guy behind the webpage at http://www.goingfaster.com/spo/tales...he_driver.html - some of his stuff is hilarious, especially the "tales from the parts counter" Autozone worker stories at the bottom.

Hey, hey...I'm 50, so I resemble that remark....

Funny, I was in a meeting this morning with a corporate guy from our investor relations department. We need to head crosstown for a meeting. I go out, he's in a new Mustang GT. From the rough rumble, it's had some work.

"Race you to the office" he said.

We were twenty again for about 20 stupid miles. On an empty stretch of road, we stopped and dragged. I beat him. I beat him to the office, too.

"That's a Subaru, for real?" he asked.
"Yeh."
"Holy Cow..."

sounds like you sold a car in the near future

I got this one from my dad last week.

"Why did you buy all that oil, oil changes are covered under warranty."

then yesterday when I did my oil change, from my mom.

"Why are you changing your oil yourself, oil changes are covered under warranty."

I want new parents. Rockhound, will you be my surrogate father?
