Since I'm a Prodrive fanatic, I no longer have any Subie decals or emblems on my ride except for the "I" on the front grill. Every where else are Prodrive decals. Often at traffic lights people ask me, "What's a Prodrive?"

I had a big burly man ask me if my car had a Hemi, then he proceeded to tell me it was cute. I didn't know what to say at that point!

Some of the ones I hear anymore is...

"Subaru is Japanese? I thought it was Austrailian."

Random Person - "So is that an STi?"
Me - "Nope"
RP - "Why didnt you get the STi"
Me - "I don't like the headlights and I got this in 2003, STi wasn't out yet"
RP - "Should have gotten the STi, it has a turbo"
Me - "This has a turbo also."
RP - "Fo' Real?"

Gas Attendant - "So does that thing have ram air?"
Me - "No. It actually serves a purpose"

it wasnt in my car , but we were getting out of my boyfriends and...

fat bald campus cop: 'excuse me young man you need to shut off your car'
bf: 'i cant'
cop: (already pissed) 'no, you need to turn off your car'
bf: 'nono it'll turn off, dont worry about it just wait'
cop: 'sir im going to have to ticket you, you need to turn it off right--"
*car shuts off*
bf: 'see??'

the dumb f***er just stood there and stared at the car so confused as we walked away

I was at autozone getting some oil and other crap and was talking with one of the guys who works there.

He looks out the window at my car.

Him: "Is that your car out there?"
Me: "Yep"
Him: "Wow that's a nice car! It must go pretty fast huh?"
Me: "yeah, it is pretty fun to drive, it has a turbo"
Him: "yeah, It's a Neon right?"
Me: (Being polite) "Uh, no, it's actually a Subaru WRX"
Him: "Oh, those neons are fast too."
Me: "I think you mean the SRT-4"

He was a nice guy but I think I would rather of had him kick me in the balls than compare my car to a neon. J/K...

The autozone people are smart. I was at autozone looking for some ramps and the 2 employees ask...

Autozone: Hey, why does you car have 2 wings?
me: The one on the roof driects air over the rear wing to downforce at high speed.
Autozone: You know where they should have put a wing on you car?
me: Where?
Autozone: On the hood.
me: alrighty thank you.

The beauty of a 06 STi.

I started dating my curent girlfreind shortly after I bought my car a little over a year ago. We got in to go on one of our first dates and she says:

"Your car sounds like a spaceship." (ive taught her alot since then)

A few months ago I was hanging out with an ex girlfriend of mine and we got in my car and she said:

"Your car sounds like a spaceship"

"Why do you drive such a boring family car [WRX wagon]?" says a girl who drives a BORING Camry.

CHP wrote up a ticket. Ticket states I drove a Subaru 2-door. I drive a WRX wagon.

Here are some classics:
"You haven't gotten a ticket yet in this thing, wow i'm impressed!"
"Do you leave the all wheel drive on all the time?"
"Do you get better mileage when the all wheel drive is off?"
"Maybe someday it'll go fast enough to blow the back 2 doors off" (friend who is obsessed with coupes)
"Your backseat has no room"
"You gonna put a BOV on?"
"So you gonna slam it and put some 19's on there and some lambo doors?"
"Throw an intake in there you'll get like 30hp!"
"Has your hoodscoop sucked up any small children?"
"Oh that has a turbo in it?"
"That's a quick car, right?"
Sorry for so many but once i started i just couldn't stop laughing as i remembered what everyone has said about it! ENJOY!

me "its a 4 cylinder"
unknown female "oh ok" in a disappointed tone

I love the comments from people when riding in it, just everything is funny as hell

the best would have to be when people ask me what size V8 or V6 is in it, they tell me i'm lying about 10 seconds later....ahhh well

Ford escort GT's had mazda 1.8 engines in from the factory. And there was a mazda 1.8 turbo that was apparently a fairly easy swap.

them: does it have dump off valve.
me: im not sure.
them: well lets hear it.
i revved it a little and drove away.

i popped my hood at a car meet and some guy asked if i had DOUBLE INTAKE. i said no and left immediately.

I live in a pretty small population area so I haven't seen a whole lot from people, but a few things have happened.

Kids usually roll their fingers implying "burnout!" They seem dissappointed when I don't bother.

A completely stock SRT4 (small town, we know pretty much all about the cars in our town) ricer revved his engine at me. I just pointed at him and laughed hysterically. I don't think he liked that.

The only other thing I can think of is people asking for rides a lot of the time.

Here's some stuff that's happened to me:

1) First week of owning the STI and waiting at a stoplight: Revving next to me in some Oldsmobile. Daddy is smiling at me and the kids are smiling...I rev back to reciprocate and the kids go wild!

2) Little kid walks by my car with his mom. "Mommy, that car looks like my toy". "Yes it does".

3) "Is that thing a V6" while waiting at an In-N-Out drive through.
