Hey guys, i was under the impression that the 08s were not available yet but today at work my brother saw one and snapped some pictures for me from his camera phone. he said that it was driven by an asian guy with a subaru jacket on and that the car appeared to have had adhesive on it and was just peeled off (if it were new wouldnt they take all that off and wash it dor the owner before leaving the lot?) he said it doesnt look that bad in person and there was only a subaru badge on the back, unless the new owner slapped on some wheels and debadged it right away...im guessing this might be a company loaner to get impressions or what? what do you guys think?

also just noticed there was a shift light or something on the dash, maybe this is a demo car or the guy who bought it wasted no time in modding it

Test mule.
The grill looks better than the pics, too bad the taillights don't. Too bad your brother didn't stick around long enough to ask for a test drive. |

we work at the same place as a part time job. if i were schedulked today i probably would have chatted with the guy and asked to look around but my brother said he was with an asian girl and they were doing some shopping so he didnt want to bother him. but when he went back to his sales department and told some people and an older man said him and his wife love subarus so he went to go find her so they could go out and look at it

Yep, probably a Subaru tester. There's a company here in the Denver area that tests pre-production models of new cars. I've seen the new Mustang, the current gen of Dodge Dakotas and the Jeep Commander in pre-production testing but never anything really exciting. All of those were in body camo but since the car has been released I could see why they skipped that on the Subie.

Looks way, way, way better without the big plastimesh grill and chrome. I hope this chromeless thing of (relative) beauty is a sign of the product being just as shown. I can solve the tails fairly easily.

I've liked it from the get go. But yes you're right. Half the people bashing it will be bragging about having the first one in their state.

After picking up Motor Trend and checking the new car out regularly I've always thought it would look great with nice wheels and lowered. I've thought to myself alot of people on here will eat there words once they see the car in real life...seems like some of that is already happening. Though this isn't lowered it looks damn good. Can't wait to see what the STI has morphed into.

I don't have the time, but if someone could design some non-ricey tails w/ a paint-ready rear trim piece they could make some good $$. Get them ready and get vendor status on here an prepare for you bank account to grow!

The problem with this is since nobody can get their hands on the car they don't have the pieces to design off of. Im not sure when the car will be released in Japan, but I'll bet as soon as it is some aftermarket company with much more R&D loot than a NASIOC member will be producing such a thing. Hopefully the STi goes without the chrome band. The tails, as said before, are quit easy to fix.
