Default H4 vs. Z4 ecu..

Tried plugging in the z4 ecu instead of the stock h4... the starter works but the fuel pump does not switch on and so the car does not start...

is there the same pinout on these ecu's or is there some difference? the ej20g was originally mated to a 4eat and thus the h4 is crosswired with a tcu.. could that be the cause of my problem?

That's your problem. Check the wiring of the neutral position swtich. Also, look at the Trans ID pin.

well, the thing is that I've already swapped out the auto trans for a 5spd unit and the car works fine with the old ecu... the neutral position switch is shorted... what bothers me is that the starter relay works but the fuel pump is disabled... normally the ecu wouldn't run the starter if the neutral position voltage was wrong...

is it engough to cut the trans ID wire or do I have to ground it in order to identify the manual trans?
