Default AnorexicSTI vs Porsche GT3 and Lotus Elise!!!!!!

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2CAOQCDjS44

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WlLawhmvxks

Did a track day at Mission yesterday. My friend recorded a 20 min. session. Youtube only allows 10 min videos so I had to break it up into 2 vids.

There are 4 run groups, white (1st timers), red, yellow, and green. I used to be a member a couple years ago in my 92 Civic lightweight (1800 lbs with 160 hp B18B motor) but this is the first time in my STI, which I just got last year and have been building up over the winter for this 1st event.

Cars that were part of the green group:
Lotus Elise
Porsche 996 TT
Subaru Impreza WRX STI
Honda Civic DX
Acura NSX
Porsche 993 C2
Porsche 993 TT
Ford Mustang Cobra
Mazda RX7
Porsche 996 TT
Subaru Impreza WRX STI
73 Porsche 911
BMW E36 M3
Porsche 986 Boxster
Porsche 996 GT3
Acura Integra Type R
82 Porsche 911 Turbo
Corvette Z06
Subaru Impreza WRX STI - Anorexic edition!
Lotus Elise
Subaru Impreza WRX Wagon
VW Golf GTI

The video doesn't give the sensation of speed, but to give you an idea, I am hitting 160 km/h on 2 of the backstraights and 190 km/h on the main straightaway before hard braking to 60 km/h in just over 100 ft. A lot of the cars are running slicks, but I'm running an R-compound street tire (basically a really high performance street tire - Bridgestone RE-01R in 245/40/17 form) which is why u hear the "howling" around turns. I'm basically doing a 4-wheel drift through most of the turns. Motor is 300 hp stock, about 350 with the modifications I've done (258 hp at the wheels). First 2 laps are warmup... I don't run into a car until about lap 4... Enjoy!

Your linky doesn't work.

Found the vid by searching. I highly recommend a camera mount. I felt motion sick watching that. How gnarly did your tires look after the event?

I actually just watched the youtube versions for the first time... and they are not nearly as nice as the originals I have on Mini-DV... some frames skip... and the sound is not as good... PLUS... it sounds like I say "I was awesome" at end when I actually said "THAT was awesome"... it's clear on my tape but sounds distorted on youtube...wanted to clear that up... I don't want u guys to think I have a big head or anything...

Man you really know how to drive the wheel's off that thing good work. I especially like how the white 911 just couldn't keep it together (going wide on that right corner ) with "STI" filling his rearview.

Does PDC require a racing suit and balaclava? Just curious, never done an event with them.

PS: Camera mounts are cheap

They do for Green level racing...I believe. As you progress there are different requirements. I think for the fastest group you have to have a suit.

I've actually really had good tire wear, even with my Civic at track events. I went a whole season in my 1800 lb Civic on 1 set of tires (Yoko A008)... they just don't seem to wear even sliding them around.

I will measure the RE-01R, but it looks like I only took off about 2/32" upon first insprection... maybe 1/32" in the rear... very even wear... I know, hard to believe, but the calipers don't lie. One of the big benefits of weight reduction is vastly reduced tire wear.

Actually, I still have those YOKO A008 mounted on lightweight 13x8 rims if anybody is interested... they clear stock 94 Integra calipers.

What is the cars current body weight. We just did a corner weighting on a customer car and I'm curious as to a comparison.
