www.ubcscc.com they have a couple events coming up, all the info is on the site, they have loaner helmets there so just make sure your car is running fine/no leaks or anything... have reasonable tires and you'll be fine

make sure you check out the FAQ part of the site

You don't need a helmet unless your taking your stock car to the drag strip and your car is pushing more then 18 seconds if i'm correct.

You should be fine without a helmet.

All auto-x requires a helmet, but as said they do have loaners.
And I agree with AmarPauld...are you the high?

Hey

Nice to see more people interested in autoX! UBCSCC's first event is on May 5th! if you're a novice then definitely come out and be part of our new Vancouver's Next Top Novice Series for this summer. all the info needed to get started is under FAQ at www.ubcscc.com and you can pre-register for the event on Karelo (the link is on the site as well). we have loaner helmets on site, so just bring your car and your racing mode! if you have any further questions, feel free to contact us!

oh make sure to come up to the registration/timing area to introduce yourself at the event! see you!

RE92s FTW! I ran them once.. it was interesting to say the least.

Now I've graduated to R-Comps.

Azn-Jap... were you drifting or were they worn out to begin with?

Maxi:
2 or 3 events will not destroy a set of tires unless you are really crazy with the car. I am not gentle with the car or tires, and a set of street tires will last me at the very least 10 to 20 events. On the other hand, I do have ABS... if you do not, some extended wheel lockups on braking can be problematic for creating flat spots. Just keep that in mind when braking, and tire life will be improved.

Auto-x is a lot of fun, and the people involved locally are really approachable. We are getting lots of subies out for most events now too.

See you around!

Definitely swap out the Nokians, they are expensive.

The autoX tire to have locally is the Falken RT-615, they are about 125~130 locally for 16". Hankook RS2's (I think) are pretty nice too.

If you are running 17"s then the STi take off RE070's are great too.

Kumho's SPT isn't bad either if you can get them cheap. I ran those before switching to Falken RT-615.
