This thread really makes me wish I had auto HVAC controls.

Regardless, I may have to give this a go.

All you need to make it work is a 06 TR radio bezel and 05-07 radio brackets. The auto ac controls and radio bezel are not plug and play into 02-04 WRX.

I don't think he does. Looking at his linked pic, he has auto hvac controls in his bugeye already, so he should be able to just swap it out for the 05+ controls.

You maybe correct. It looks like he has a 04 STi dash swap. If that's the case the wiring and HVAC would have been swapped (to make it work), so he doesn't have the "bugeye connector" he referred to in his post. In that case he may only need to add the radio brackets.

Does anyone have the part number for the e-brake or ashtray?

Going through the list on SubaruPartsForYou.com, I think I found the part number for the ashtray:

Ashtray Insert - Part # 66160SA001

I couldn't find a part number for a 05+ e-brake on there. Oddly enough, they do list four different part numbers for the e-brake assembly between the 02-04. Really weird - I'm confused.

Sorry for the lat answer guys and thanxs for the replay .

Just to clarifiy, i liv in switzerland and i got my bugeye wrx in may 2001, my bugs center consol allready comes like it is right now no modifications from my side (i got it brand spanking new) i donnt know if this was only on the edm models ......

So you think i only need to connect the newer unit to my oem connector i got ?

That will be awesome

Thanxs guys

chris

Chris, there is no way for us to know for sure since we don't have access to a bugeye with factory stock auto hvac controls over here, but I would assume that the controls/connectors in your car are identical to those found in USDM 04 STI's, which are of course compatible with the 05+ auto hvac controls.

Personally I would try to get a used set of 05+ auto hvac controls off the forums or ebay for cheap and just try hooking it up before going out and buying a complete 05+ center console, just to be safe.

BTW, I am originally from Germany and very much miss my old EDM bugeye.

they're completely different. You'd need to swap the entire dash...which I doubt would even fit to begin with.

Does anybody know if someone makes a harness conversion or something to make the 05+ STi auto climate controls fit on a 02-04 wrx when you do this conversion?

I have a leftover one that I can sell you, but it has automatic HVAC, not manual HVAC.

If you do the TR conversion, you can always do what I did:
