Ever think that I didn't put let my mouse sit over it and didn't type it. And on the other vBulletin forum I go on it is labeled as "Look up"

I wonder why people have such attitudes on here......

Any thing I put in I wanna have a switch on. Any ideas on where to put LEDs. I dont wanna just have a color lit cab, I wanna have them in strategic spots so it looks nice. I would like to put one up on the gauges and in the cup holders in the center console box and in the little compartment below the cd player, but I don't know where I can run wires/drill holes to any of these. Also if I want to fill a drilled hole on any in any of these spots waht should I use?

you could build a strip with 1/8" plexi and mount your led's in that and attach it in the foot wells.

If you go with a FMIC set up you could light up the piping under hood

Gauges cluster, glove box, ashtray, center console, along the side of the center console, around the shifter base, or near any handles etc. I have also seen it done along the edge of the gauge cluster on the small flat spot along the bottom edge.

just some ideas anyways!

Question - If i pick up led's with a 12v resistor already built in, is it ok for me to just tap power from lets say my radio illum. wire or the cig. plug light wires? What about powering 2-4 of those said leds with either of those two sources?

Also, do we have any place in all four of the doors where theres power only when the car is turned on or when the interior lights are on?
See my previous posts. Just pick up the part # that I mentioned above. It has built in resistor and flush housing unit. All I had to do was to drill the 9/32" hole and stick the led in, screw the small washer on the back to keep it tight. The led is flush in the cupholder. As to hook up, see my previous posts.

Now, I put the 2nd led in tonight just above the 1st one. The 2 led's are not bright at all...still not anywhere near the blue one in the pic above. It's very sutle. I got some pics but there not that great and I didn't bring a big enough memory stick w/me to my brothers. I'll get them later this week.

I just took a run out to my car with a few LEDs the biggest problem is that the LEDs I have are nondiffused and 30* viewing angle. Which means unless I diffuse the tip, there will be a projected circle.

I think for the little storage space in the dash under the deck I am gonna put in a 4" CCFL but now I need to figure out how to get it out.
For the foot wells I am gonna put in some 12" CCFLs i will post pics in a few weeks after I get them in.

Time for sleep I have a final at 8am.

To let you guys in on a nice site I LOVE, oznium.com

Is there any easy way to get in behind the sidewall of the center consol to easily wire up a switch. I wanna put it about where the shifter is, where you can fit your hand up under it. it would be alot easier to run wires this way. Also where should I run the wires to?

EDIT: Oops sorry for the double post

Sorry I havent posted back on this since I showed that pic, but you can get a pack of these LEDs from PepBoys or Circuit City for pretty cheap. It usually comes with 4 of them.

When you drill the hole, dont make it too big. If you get it just right, the LED holds into place very well. Another trick to get the light to spread out nicely is to sand or file the round tip of the LED flat. Thats how I did mine and that why it has such a wide light output.

I will take more pics when my battery on my camera gets charged up.

Oh, I also have them on a switch that is hidden, so I dont have to have them on all the time.

I want to put some in the door handle so that area glows at night like the Eclass. I would sand the bulbs so its not too bright and disperse the light output more.

Does anyone know if theres a power source inside each of the doors that I would tap power from only when the lights are on?

Heres a pic without the bottle in the cup holder. Its really not bright at all. Very subtle to me. I have the LED mounted on the back wall of the cup holder so its not shining up on the roof like it would if it was mounted on the bottom of it. And I put a pic of the gauge cluster also. The LEDs in that are under the bezel.

When I roll my mouse over the smiley it says "Roll Eyes (sarcastic)"

I would take a piece of acryline rectangular stock and make an insert. Make a hole perpendicular to the end (the seam where the piece meets when you bend it) and inseart some led's. The acrylic will acts like a fiber optic and, if you do it right, the light wont' escape out of the inside diameter as the angle of refraction is too great, but you can make it come out of the top. If you etch the sides in patterns you can get the pattern to light up.

I never said it doesn't say that when I roll my mouse over it, so why do you need to say that.

And what are you talking about. What are those directions to do?

I said that with a " " as in, wink wink...let's all have a laugh....

Those directions with make an insert for your cup holder and illuminate it while hiding (for the most part) the actual illumination source and allowing you more control of the illumination pattern.

i use this method almost daily we use the clear LED's that emit blue light so that the fabric/plastic/vynal color from around it goes through and makes it a color match by defualt. It actually looks quite clean and most people don't even notice the LED until it is lit!

I will post pics tomorrow in a sample piece of flat ABS

-C
Did you get a chance to snap a few pics yet? I would like to see how people are flush mounting them. I supposed I could use super glue around the corner for strength and hot glue for the rest for support. But I would rather see how a pro does it.

How do those blue leds look when the factory gadgue cluster is iluminated. Or doe you just use these because that looks tight.

I took some day time photos of mine today. I used my camera phone, so they're low quality but you can get an idea of how the install looks. I don't have the night time photos. They didn't turn out good at all. I'll have to try again when I have more time to mess w/my brother's SLR settings. Click the link below

This is really tempting. What did you guys tap it into? Is there a way to get it to dim with the rest of the interior lighting?
