the new impreza will come as a 2002 model which equip with a one stage tubro with 220-230 hps, which SOA call North America WRX. It depends you want a cheaper N/A impreza or a more expensive new tubro impreza. However, you should look at the price difference before you decide to buy!!

Thanks STI. so Do you know approximately when will the 2002 model arrive?
Personally I want a N/A impreza, but worry the fact that once the newer model arrive there will be a significant price drop.

Vilanux,

Like Ovaltine said, expect the 2001 to be at the dealership around August or early september.

One thing you'll probably see is a slight increase in the MSRP price (2-3%). I wouldn't doubt it... If you're leaning for 2001, there shouln't be any changes to the 2000 model (at all) but you never know. On that note, I would still try to buy a 2000 model and save a few bucks since you don't want the Turbo version anyway.

Subaru has been tweaking our cars since 98 model. Ever so slightly changing them every year but very minor.

The 2002 Turbo model will be here around March 2001 but I won't be rushing out for one. One of our dealers is keeping one for themselves (personal use) and their insurance rate is $3800 per year and they're both around 40years old.

Well, according to the other members on the board. The 2001 should be the same as the 2000 except for standard floormats, standard CD player, new cupholder, and different tailights.

I recently got my 2000 2.5RS coupe from Don Docksteader, and they said the 2001 models should arrive in showrooms by mid-August.

Any idea what the MSRP would be on the WRX? I have really been itching to get my hands on an Impreza but with the WRX coming to our shores...

I think the 2001 impreza will get that US/WRX bumper!!! That is why now you can actually buy those bumpers from your dealerships. Unless this is a Toronto thingy.
The new turbo will border at mid to high CDN30k. A few of us met an advertising agent for SOC during one of our Scooby meets.

Same here... the SOC rep we know said $34-$37k plus tax... the dealers are saying high 30k... If it's $38k plus tax... I won't be buying one... too much...

I'll turbo my 99RS and find a used TS as a second car.

Gambit, you buy the bumper anywhere. John Scotti (montreal dealer) keeps them in stock. I really doubt they change the bumper for 2001.

Hey Scout: I doubt that do you rally want that high 30K North America WRX. It is not the Japan Spec WRX, and with the price for the 2002 model Impreza. You can buy a Real WRX in Hong Kong!!

Sti2_5rs, i know it's not the japan-spec WRX but I've heard alot about the lack of power out of the 2.5 and 200+ HP could go a long way fixing that particular problem. If the pric is in the mid-30's it might be worthwhile.

Cool

hmmmmmmmm, actually, i think the 2.5RS is not that lack of power. It really depends on how you drive it!!! with the price for the 2002 WRX, I rather buy the MY00 and spend some $$ on intakes, SAFC, exhaust, and a bolt on Tubro!!! I think it will still cheaper than the 2002 model. One thing that i really don't like the 2002 model is its looking. Did you take a look of the pic that post in the general forum scout??? If you don't, then you better check it out first!! I think the recent model looks better!!!!

I think buying a turbo kit for the RS is a waste of time. It costs around the same price (stage 1) as buying a Japanese spec sti engine. There is a guy I was taking to at the Cache Creek rally media event (he actually desingned minnam's turbo) who told me he could get version 3-5 engines from Japan for about 3-5 grand(depending on the price of the yen). That is including the 'wolf 3d' computer that runs the engine as well as install. The computer is needed because the wiring harnesses don't match. This guy owns an impreza, but had his mazda GTX there with a WRX turbo charger on it and the thing was pushing (no joke) 380hp! He called it his 5 liter eater.

Man, those 323GTX's are sweet. There is a place here in Onterrible That do STi WRX motor swaps, if you really wanted 280HP and have the high octane gast o run them, you could do it. When the 2002 comes out, and if they are asking high 30's for it, I'd tell them to shove it up there ass. Think about it, close to 40K for a 220HP Impreza? nah, I'd rather get a GTI VR6 or a 1.8T and mod the **** out of it...

just my .02

Gambit, The problem is the fuel we use over here, 280HP is attainable in Japan becos of the high octane fuel. I think we are going to look at a 220HP version.

It's not going to be 220p. if it's high 30s it's gonnabe a detuned STi WRX engine 280 detuned to 240hp thanks to emissions! Take out the restrictive exhaust, intakes, reinsert that STi chip and voila! 280hp! Right now, Subaru is debating on whether to go that path of just bring in an impreza GT for less mulah or the detuned WRX. An RS is already close to 27k.

Yah, I think the 2002 Model really looks horrible, the Impreza is a car that shouldn't be messed with. It's a very unique car that seems to not age for some reason

Also, I think paying that extra 5k for the 2001 model which is the exact same as the 2000 model for standard CD and floormats is not worth it. I mean, is that CD player worth the 600 bucks they selling it for? It's a ugly piece of junk. I'm getting a MD instead.

Also, the Canadian version will have the same bumper as 2000, wut a major upset, even if they included it in the 5k jack up, I would still go for MY00. Better for the money.

Cya.
