Hello West Coasters, my gf and i will be moving to Vancouver soon, looking for places in the kitsilano area as my girl is doing her masters at UBC. Just sayin a quick hello, and asking 2 questions (which will make you laugh) I know it is rainy there, but how much, i am buying new summer tires and want to know if i should get something that is better able to handle the wet roads? Also if you could recommend a relater company to help us with finding a house/duplex to rent. Thanks.
BTW.. i am STOKED for this move!!

It rains a fair amount, but don't shy away from "summer" tires because of it...just don't drive on R-comps and drive like you're from T.O.

What price point are you looking at? It's pretty tough to find a place long distance. I've had lots of classmates come from around the world to UBC, they generally stay somewhere short term while looking for suitable accomodation through the trenches (ie Craigslist etc.).
As for tires, get summers, but get summers that are also good in the rain, rather than awesome in the dry only. In the summer months, it doesn't rain too much (we've had only a couple days of rain a summer month before). What's the girlfriend studying? |

lookin from 600 - 1200 p/m all included. I have been lookin on craigs list, but it seems tough to find a plce that allows dogs. We are moving our stuff into storage in vancouver and staying in a hotel till we find a place. That's the plan anyway.
Been lookin at google map for some twisties, looks like there are some here and there in a short drive (btw i a from Montana, but live in TO now, so i am used to mtn roads, and i really miss em) |
