Question SPT or COBB cat back exhaust?

hey fellas

been investigating which exhaust system to go with for quite sometime now, (actually posted an earlier thread asking for recommendations; thanks for the replies.

before i jump in and order, I think I managed to narrow my options down to 2.
SPT (borsal) cat-back or the COBB SS3" cat-back?

there is a price difference of 200$US between the 2.

with either choice, my objective is for a more throaty sound, and hopefully some power gains.

just want to double check before commiting to either one.
any opinons, or reviews will be appreciated.

cheers, and thanks in advance!

I have the SPT cat back and its pretty nice and polished as well unlike the cobb. SPT unleashes the boxer rumble a bit and its not obnoxiously loud. It mates up perfect to stock downpipe with the factory doughnut, however if you decide to upgrade your downpipe things become a little tricky since it was made for stock. I had to cut a section off the 2 springs that hold the downpipe to the catback due to there being to big of a gap in between. Also the SPT has ****ty welds on the flange because bosal decided not to weld a bead all the way around it and only spot weld so if you dont use the factory doughnot on a aftermarket downpipe and just use a gasket the exhaust will leak through the flange and so will moisture. Thats its only flaws. PLUS its warrentied.

Get the COBB, it is a far better piece IMO. Other options for good boxer sound would be the Rocket Rally downpipe or the APS Turbo-back.

Cobb sounds better IMO, even mated with a catless downpipe they're not obnoxiously loud at all. APS makes a terrific exhaust as well

thanks for the opinions fellas, appreciate the validation.

would love to go APS TBE, just a bit over my price range. the wife would be pissed if she found out the "real" prices :P ( I know some of you out there know exactly what I'm talking about

so for now,
COBB cat-back it is! yoohoo!

quick question;
is there any installation issues for a stock 04 wrx wagon with the COBB exhaust I should be aware of?

Tora ~ will be coming by for the downpipe on my next purchase, looking forward.

thanks again!
