Well i polished up the wagon a few days ago and was cleaning the rims (oh my back...literally) and when I got to the Front Passenger Rim, i found a Black line in a spoke that wouldn't wash off....and low and behold it was because it was cracked all the way around. No pieces missing, just a nice Crack. So I recall last month I was coming home from work and remember the wicked pothole I hit....guess I should have inspected it closer....sigh..
I called the City...basically got the ....Too Bad, So sad.... response. I have contacted Panther...they won't touch it...anyone got any recommendations? It looks weldable.....tig weld? smooth it? refinish it?

Time for new wheels. You don't really know how deep is the fracture on the wheel which makes it pretty hazardous.

Ya I wouldn't want to ride on a rim that was cracked, even if it can be repaired. Sucks though, what wheels are they?

Try NuBrite in Port Kells, or even Green's.
I've seen NuBrite do some amazing things with much more damaged wheels. |

i heard that ICBC was re-imbursing people that suffered flat tires/ damage to their cars as a result of the horrible road conditions on Cambie due to the Rav line construction...maybe you can try to make a claim?

Hmmm, I droved on some gravel/logging road just last weekend, I guess I should check my wheels too.
If the crack is along the base of the spoke I don't think anyone would repair it... Too much liability. |

HA, I am so poor right now Replacing/repairing it might not even be in the cards for a LONG time.....and to make matters worse my cell was stolen in the last few days, I REALLY need to do the brakes on my car, and I am suspect about my clutch....It feels funny, like it is slipping....sigh...when it rains it pours.

I should check my rims too, maybe even new alignment...that pothole on the bridge was nasty. Although montrealers live with that every year!

I almost suffered the exact incident, but I was on my stock rims *phew*.
And it was on Oak street bridge, nearing the end of the bridge, going into Richmond. I believe it was on the left, inside lane, there was a HUGE pot hole, and it was night time, so i couldn't see or move out of the way in time. I barely saw it, and tried to slow down, but couldn't and I heard a "KABOOM" when I ran over the pot hole. There goes 50% lifespan of my stock struts ![]() |

hheeehhheee....no...i don't have the stockers.......cause i sold them...see i had this going through my mind when i sold them "I don't need these any more, I mean I have new rims and what is the worst that could happen...oh look money".
I got the cellphone thing fixed, bought a cheapy off craigslist to get me thru.. as for the rim i will just continue to ride on it, it still has 9 good spokes ![]() and i will just take it easy on it....should be fine....pray for me. |
