well i got my warrentied set of headers from speedyracer on the 30th. the sound it was making is still there a little, but deffinatly better then it was. The only thing i can think of is that it's just the sound of the exhaust pulses going into the header being more audible now becuase it's tubes and not heat sheild encased cast manifold. anybody else wanna chime in...?

james,

it is going to be setup right next to the lower half of the airbox and far away from the engine (as far away as inside the bay can get). the filter (k&n cone) has an open top and the lower airbox's opening to the fender will pretty much feed directly into it. it shouldnt be very warm compared to other short ram setups.

if it sucks, ill just sell the setup. it will be made of a maf adapter, k&n cone, and a silicone 3" hose (havent decided on tube/hose yet, suggestions??). all i remove is the top of the airbox and the piece between torque box and the maf sensor. this way i can customize the length of it so its as far away from the engine as possible. and its easily put back to stock because im still under warranty.

i might fab up some sort shield/funnel so it protects from when i do dirty driving in kamloops and gets most air from the fender opening. ill have to wait and see when i get it and when i can ditch these crutches im on.

EDIT: so i emailed mark at a2r and i asked him about the robotic welds and the better quality being true for the v2's. i got this as a reply:

"True True True.

Should be out hopely 4-8+ weeks from now. Everything is still on production at this moment. Thank you very much Max. =)

Hello Nasioc members,

Yes, the Version II's will be coming out soon. At this moment it's all up on the air now. I'm sorry I don't have an exact ETA. Once I get a confirmation from my factory I'll keep you guys updated right away.

I might need a member to do a test fit on the Version II's with pictures of install. Feel free to contact me. I'm located in Dallas, TX.

I've noticed that you guys both have Stromung catbacks. Do they come with resonators in the midpipe? If not I've read that the exhaust is raspy without resonators welded into midpipe. I'm not 100% sure because this is something I've only read and not my first hand experience.

with these headers, the stromung sounds really smooth without a resonator...i've never heard this setup with a resonated midpipe so i can't vouch for that side of it

I was pricing resonators before i bought the headers because i had heard the same things. After I actually put he headers in, I didnt find an immediate need to put a resonator in. Its less droney too. If you like the stromung catback, you'll like it more with the headers.

I have a stock cat though... I think a lot of the rasp comes in with a high flow or catless setup.

How are the gaskets that came with the Ebay headers? If they are cheap gaskets that may be causing the leak. I'm not sure though. Anyway, if I buy these headers where can I get an extra set of gaskets?

Should I wait for the ver 2? What would be the overall difference between the old vs new? I know the new one will be TIG weld? Would it make any difference in performance gains or weld quality? If so how? and how much do you think the difference will be in cost?

I didn't get any gaskets with mine.., but I already had a pair of OEM ones on hand anyway.

I'm happy to report that my car passed an OBDII + visual inspection last week w/ the AR2 headers installed. Still one of my favorite mods so far.. especially for the price.

What do you guys think about the quality/make of either of the headers?
Would people get A2r? or Speedyracer?

I would like to choose speedyracer to save few bucks. But what would you guys do? If these are same exact product then why spend that extra few bucks? If any of you guys have purchased either of these headers I would like to hear some of the problems or satisfactions that you guys have had since installing them on your ride. TIA.

I've heard that both sellers get their headers from the same factory, so they should be the same.

HAHA I will as soon as I get home. I just wanted to make sure because people (including yourself) have talked about hissing sound and leak and what not.

the hissing kinda sound is just the sound all these tubed headers make..there is less material to insulate the sound of the gasses moving into the headers, as opposed to a large cast manifold with heat sheilds...you get used to it and won't even hear it after a little while

My mind is already set to order them right when I get home after work. When you mentioned about sending them back the first one, was there a leak? or was it the same hissing sound?

This is the last question I swear!!

haha..it was a small leak, but that would happen with any company..remember, after you install them, retourqe the bolts after a few heat cycles on them and all should be good
