Default Using 3ohm resistors on a WRX dash swap into a GC8

I have a 2004 dash available with my complete WRX swap I am doing in 4 weeks. Problem is I wont have the side airbags so I need to figure out how to fool the system. I have read about using 3ohm resistors on seat swaps, can I do the same thing with the dash? I will only do the swap if I can get the driver and passenger bags to work, but I am thinking the same thing would work.

I have a 2000 RS coupe, stock seats

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

i would think so.. when i tested the resistance on the wheel it was 3.2 ohms.... so im guessing the whole system would have to be the same for it to function simply... unless each connector has different resistance, which would be odd and stupid on subarus part... but hey, i happens

just don't confuse 3K ohm resistors w/ 3 ohm resistors.
(not trying to be funny or mean. you would not be the first or the last to do it)

check out this thread for free resistors.
(cost you 2 stamps & two envelopes)

well i cant test it yet, i dont have the dash. I guess we could just test right before, but it would be great if someone know before hand, so I know if it will work or not. dont want to install the whole dash to find out it wont work and then have to rip it out and put the stock back in there.

if it will work all i will need is the OEM un-deployed passenger airbag, anybody have a good place i might be able to find one, for a decent price?

Yea, we couldn't get my 93 sensors and stuff to work. You probably can, but we didn't. Good luck, and make sure you post up when you figure it out! You'll love it when its all done.

Ok i have been reading a little bit about the SRS control module. I figured I would have to replace, but now I am wondering if they are universal. So could I use my 2000 SRS contol module, on the 2004 WRX dash? That way the system would only be expecting the driver and passenger side bags. Are the universal, can I use the my current module on the new dash?

Bump,

I could really use some opinions, not sure if this will work. If not I am trying to get my hands on a 04 SRS control module as well as the front and side sensors, so that the system is completely replaced. where are teh actual sensors located?

Save yourself the some trouble and use the resistors. They work flawlessly.

well i would but it sounds like I can't really. the problem is i will still need the side impact sensors and they dont fit in my gc8. looks like now I am going to try to use the GC control module with the 04 dash, so that the system is only looking for two bags and front sensors. Nitro Dog got this to work, I am hoping I can find others who got it to work as well.
