Default windshield info for all you with cracked windshields

Cost for a factory windshield replaced by WHS with a factory windshield is approx $700 for parts, $200 for labor.

cost for aftermarket windshield (how can it be any weaker?!) installed at your place of work, $275 total (if you haggle, $310 if you dont)

WHS was nice enough to give me this info.

the aftermarket windshield place - 713-661-0091 - ask for terry

they should be doing mine tomorrow. I'll let ya know how it goes.

The "aftermarket" one that I got from my person was a Subaru windshield, same darn thing. So I got it for MUCH cheaper than Subaru would have charged me!

How many times do I have to tell you fools... If you have full coverage insurance they pay to replace cracked windshields. They are considered "critical safety equipment". Call your insurance before paying 700 dollars...

I had three windshield repairs in a year. Everytime I got a chip it turned into a crack and I claimed it. My rates went up dramatically the next year. Be careful. A claim is a claim! It really sucks that we pay so much for 'mandatory' insurance but as soon as you need it they rip you a new hole!

That's exactly what I had to do also. My State Farm policy does not have this fabled "$100 for windshield" deal. $500 is 500, and then I only pay $280 for mine. Works out well, only took the guy about 30min - 1 hour in my works' parking garage.

I thought most insurance policies covered chips and cracks as they are critical safety items (not under the standard deductible). Evreyone I know has a $500 deductible. If it doesn't cover windshield cracks then I'll add it if my windshield cracks.

It's not a fable. I thought the same thing. So after it cracked, I lowered my deductible to 250 and figure I would claim it a month or so. When I called my agent, same one for the past 6 years, she told me it would be 100 dollars, through the Links glass network. I called Links, took about 5 minutes, located an approved glass dealer(Binswager Glass), and that was it. Talked to the glass shop, and after he made some calls(WHS), he found an RS window and it came in about a week later. As quoted above, how many times do I need to state this? You need to talk to your agent, because you are getting ****ed!

Never called you a liar dude, but I've heard of this $100 thing from multiple people. And when I called my agent, they had nothing of the sort. Guess I'll have to try again if it cracks again (knock on wood).

Just got the first windshield crack!!!

However, I called my insurance agent at State Farm. They replace the windshield under the comprehensive coverage for $50. They also told me that the premiums are not affected by comprehensive claims. I guess if you start replacing it every couple of months, they might say something different though.

Anyway, just thought I'd let you guys know what I found out.

$50 Whoo Hoo!!!!!

Oh...if anyone would like the name and number of my State Farm rep...let me know!
