Frequently Asked Questions for Day 1

What is a pro-solo?
A Pro Solo is a side by side skills challenge where competitors compete head to head on mirror image courses. This is an adrenaline filled event where both competitors watch a Drag Tree and wait for the light to turn green. When the lights turn green, both challengers rocket down a track laid out by pylons, and the first one back to the stop box wins.

Basically its 2 AutoSlalom courses laid out in a mirror image courses, 1 car on each course at a time.

What is Bracket Pro Solo?
Essentially its a pro-solo where 2 cars line up side by side to compete head to head against each other. First one back to the finish line wins.

What makes it different from a standard Pro-Solo?
The way vehicles are classed are what makes it different. Competitors will get 2 runs in the morning to set their qualifying times. They will run each side and receive a time. The time they receive will be added together and divided by 2. From there, they will be classed against cars with similar times.

Meaning, if you did the left track at 34.425 seconds, and the right track at 35.1 seconds, your combined time would be 69.525 seconds, divide that by the number of runs and we get: 34.7625

You would get classed with cars that ran the course with similar times that you got + and 1 second.

How does it work, after qualifying?
Fastest cars will be paired up with slowest cars in the same bracket, you will get a total of 3 runs, and its the best out of 3. If you happen to win your challenge in 2 runs, so be it. You will advance to the next round of eliminations.

How many runs do I get?
You gets lots, the more you win, the more you continue running.

What is a staggered start?
Staggered starts are used only during the finals, its to decide who the overall winner is. The objective of all the runs is to finish the runs clean and as fast as you can go.

The winner is the one that gets to the stop box first. When competing against cars in a faster bracket, competitors will be staggered to accommodate the time difference.

If you are in a faster bracket, and that bracket is 2 seconds faster than the one you are competing against, you'll have to negotiate with your opponent to acquire the appropriate length which you think is fair to get you to the finish line.

Will the timer be on during the actual finals?
No, during the finals its the first one back into the stop box that wins.

What if I hit a cone during the run?
You better hope that your opponent hits a cone as well. Unlike regular Solos, cones are like penalties. The one with the least penalties win. Therefore its important to finish cleanly.

What if I hit a cone on the stop box?
Unlike regular Solos, hitting the stop box cone (side cones) is a penalty, and if you have more penalties than your opponent, you lose, regardless if you arrive first.

If you hit the end cone in the stop box, its considered DNF, you lose that run.

How do I know when to start?
The starter will line you up on the start line, they will point to you asking you if you're ready to go.

You should reply with thumbs up sign.

The starter will raise a flag, as soon as the flag drops, you go. Dropping means, movement downwards.

What if someone takes off before the flag?
If cars cross the line before the flag drops, the run is disqualified. This is usually called a false start.

If both cars perform a false start, then both will get lined up again to do their run. Only 1 false start is allowed where 2 cars are involved.

How do I know how the course is laid out?
All competitors will get the opportunity to do a course walk, similar to the standard layouts. There will be enough time to walk both courses at least 2 times.

No motorized vehicles, bicycles, skateboards ,or rollerblades are allowed. Any other wheeled item must get approval from the course marshal prior to any course walk.
