Default I have Unofficial Good NEWS about the 08 Impreza

I just got done talking to my contact pretty high up the food chain at SOA about the Grill of the 08...

He said, "Subaru Recognizes the market to have a Grill option on the 08 Impreza and SOA has already sourced and will be made available when the 08 comes out."

It will be a painted grill with a Black/gray mesh insert...It will be body color...so there will be NO chrome on it anywhere...

It will look almost exactly like this one that is in the other thread...There is a small possibility that it is the ACTUAL grill on the car that will be offered...

Interesting. Subaru did provide an alternative grille option on the 2007 Tribeca, so it wouldn't be too surprising to see one available for the Impreza also.

Yeah..I am pretty excited about it...He also said Subaru will have a 40% Stock level upon the release of it.....sometime at the end of Aug/Sept timeframe...
What that means is that say Subaru Brings out an intitial 1000 WRX/Impreza's to the dealers...they will have 400 new Grills in stock ready to go ...some will be put on at the port....some will be in the warehouses...and some will go to the dealer stock.(Thats me)...so I plan to have one for each color for a while......

I was excited about the Car....but I really didn't care for the Grill...this definately fixes that.......

Very good news! I like most of the car, but the grill was a stumbling block for me.

Totally agree! It's amazing how much difference a grill (and some nicer wheels, a lip, lower suspension... ) can make!

will they have options for people who like extra chromes...?

because it's just unfair only to have options to take away the chrome...

That blue oval in the mesh grill looks like a freaking ford grill....God help subaru in 08'. I guess I am just going to have to pray that they look better in person than what I have seen online.

The grille on the NJ test vehicle extends further (at least, visually by making the lower edge thicker) over the bumper a la the GC8 STi grilles. Gives it a tougher bullish look.

Too bad about the crappy mesh. Honeycomb would look much better.

Hooray for Suby knowing that people will want a nose job for the car.

Now come out with some alternative red (or even smoked) tail lights for teh hatchback por favor.

It's good that there will be an alternative grille, but it sucks there will be no chrome at all. Chrome and grilles are typically an ideal match.

Basically, I think they should do that grille, but they should have thin chrome on the border of the grille itself rather than having it blacked out too. Just enough chrome to accent the shape of the grille without getting too over-blinged. Something kind of like this (Yes, crappy chop I know):

However, why they just don't make a modified version of the 08 Legacy grille like everyone wants is beyond me...

yeah... drivers are allowed to switch the grilles would be a very good idea...
that almost sounds like the situation for cell phones, you can put different color covers on the phones...
(oh, didn't the smart car having options to change the body panels for different colors...?)

This grill option reminds me of the old grill options for the first generation Foresters...

So if they're doing away with the chrome grille what are they doing about the chrome between the tails? Chrome on the front and back sure, only on the back and it's going to look cheap.
