Arrow New Pics of HID Kit installed in Morettes

Here are some quick (and dirty) pics of my the Eaglite HID Kit that I bought through the recent group buy. I am VERY happy with the kit overall and the light output is even better than I expected. These lights are a very nice blueish white with a bit more blue color than other HIDs I have seen. From in front of the car these lights look very similar to the new Mercedes HID lights. These are much better than any aftermarket bulb I have tried (and I have tried almost every bulb available). Let me know if you have any questions.

These turn night into day. I lit up the road for all of the cars around me on the freeway tonight.

very nice..

how is the lighting in bad weather like rain or fog? does the beam reflect off the water back at you? and how are the morettes at keeping the light from scattering and blinding oncoming drivers?

sorry for all the questions, but i've been on a lighting kick lately.

gtcrispy, I totally feel for ya. I just got my car back after 4 1/2 weeks!! Had to drive a rental car during that time. Really made me appreciate the GT!

Jacob, awesome lights on a kickass car! You beat me to it! I was thinking of running HID's through morettes but I can't get myself to shell out that much for lights (God, I wish I could). That money has already been spoken for (cams, headers, and intake)

The lighting is extremely good in heavy rain and fog. It has been pouring here in Seattle, and the HIDs shine throught the rain much better than halogen bulbs. The Morettes do not scatter at all into the eyes of oncoming drivers. As you can see in the pictures above, the Morette's projector low beam has a very sharp cut off, keeping the light concentrated on the road. Please let me know if you have any other questions.

jacob, my credit card thanks you. it's going to get a good workout. those are h1 bulbs in the low beams, correct? might as well get the hid's and install them at the same time as the morettes..

Froggert:

Yes, the Morettes use H1 Low beam bulbs and H3 High beams. If you choose to skip the HIDs, I have a 1 month old set of Catz Galaxy White H1 bulbs that work great in the Morettes. They are the closest thing to HID from a non-HID bulb. IMHO, they are much better than the PIAAs and they have a lifetime warranty. Let me know if you are interested. I would sell them for $50 shipped for the pair.

jacob, thanks, but i think i'm going to skip the middle step and jump straight to the hid's.

ack, between the morettes, hid's, and new fog and driving lights, i'm going to spend more on lighting this season than mortgage on my apt.

Thanks for the kind words guys!! I hope to take some new, cleaned up pics soon (if it ever stops raining here in Seattle for me to take some shots). I may even include some pics of my other car, an original 1964 1/2 Mustang convertable, which is currently in storage.

Monovich:
-- Yes, I will paint the Morettes to match the body color very soon. I may have them painted at the same time as my new side markers.

sovereignmk1:
-- I will try to take some pics of my HIDs pointed down a dark road to show their distance and beam pattern. I will post them when I do.

SilverSurfer:
-- Your HIDs look great! Are those the Vision/ K2 purple HIDs? I am thinking about buying an extra set of the purple bulbs, to see which I like more, the blue ones I have or the purple ones. They look to be MUCH more purple than the Audi/BMW HIDs, am I right? I bet those are a great improvement over the stock halogen headlights. Very nice.

Hi Jacob,

Looks Very Nice! ... and you still have a high beam with the morettes ? Your comments about the HID's in our rain ... good to hear! How often do you get oncoming cars "complaining" about the intensity of the HID's?

I have a set of HID's for my legacy that I will install this weekend plus a set of CATZ 85 watt halogen driving lamps for a high beam ... and wire these so I can run with both on ...

I helped my son finish installing HID's in his M3 recently ... and they make a huge difference ... the lighting pattern we observed looks a bit different from your pictures though ... fill low to the left as your pictures illustrate but angle up much more sharply to the right ... we didnt measure angle ... but I'd guess between 30 and 40 degrees ... and really light up everything on the shoulder ... this perspective from 20 feet out from the garage door ... on the road one can read road signs a long way off ... simply amazing ...

Sorry man but I won't be painting them right now. I might later on when I get tired of the black. I am going for the less refined look on my car. Something that will look good even with a side covered in mud.
