Unhappy raelly really need help with canada RS

As everyone in canada know, our RS's front bumper is not relly cool compare to the others around the world.
I really want the look of the wrx, and i really want to buy the USA bumper skin.
The problem is, where to buy? i live in Edmonton, and there is a offer for 1600 for just the front bumer with the V-bar inside(this is perfect US STOCK). And this guy claims that all other fibra kit will result in alot of problem and after i installed, will have to go back to him for repare alot. All others offers does not give really clear detail as i notice on the net.. either it does not mention nothing about the sway bar or does not say anything about turn signal light..

{PS. seem like canada front bump use a different V-bar in side than the WRX style, either we cut our own, or get new one..}

Any one can tell me where to get the bumper(V bar needed?)? shoudl i get the fibra kit that look liek wrx(still need V-bar?)? or the US plastic STOCK?

Does any one who has firba kit find that there is alot of problem??? please help out. pleasee.. i really want the wrx front.... but 1600 cad just for the front seem a bit expensive and pointless....

sorry, lot of questions,, please help out...

1600 is a reasonable price for a bumper, from a dealership OR an aftermarket bumper...
It's really unnecessary for you to buy a Vbar because buying one and cutting one is the same thing... they both only give you a 5km/h protection.
I own a fibreglass bumper, and from what I heard is that if you accidentally chip it and cause a crack, then your bumper is gone, because fibreglass just cracks on...

However, you do need a fairly hard hit for you to crack your bumper...

Anyhow, the whole point in getting a bodykit is to take care of it anyway.

Depends on what your preferences are.

I know some dealerships will sell you the bumper for $1100-$1600
This will include signal lights, fog lamps (subaru), paint and install....

If I were you, I try to stick with the plastic bumper like the US model. I'll give you a little bit more protection then a fibre glass one. I have a friend who's brother died in a car accident (he was driving a Red 98 RS). He had a sym kit which is fibre glass and a rebar was cut so the bumper would fit. His car went into 10 million pieces. The canadian bumber would look okay if there's a chin spoiler available. I'm still looking for one. But that's just my .02 cents. I rather keep my canadian bumper just in case I wham someone or someone whams me so that I get the maximum protection.

gerard, if you can wait just a little bit longer we should be getting some replica v5 bumpers in.

you will be able to do the complete conversion for under $500 if you cut the rebar, or about $750 if you buy the new rebar...

I have to disagree with you Katsudon, cause you if get in a crash over 80km/h, then having a rebar wouldn't really matter...

I have to agree with Michael, get a new rebar is better than the cut rebar. Been discussed couple times on the board and STi M-List already.

I think a GB is in order!

(Edit)

I think the lip spoiler works out to be about $360 + shipping.

follow this link http://www.goeckel.de/ into tuning program, Subaru, Aerodynamic. You will get a price list.

it says 499,00 (Comman means .) I think that includes the German VAT.

499 DEM = 360 CAD.

I want it Bad!!. I was gunna buy an STI lip from MRT and trim it to fit.

RHITB -- thanx for the info on the price.

Now, does anybody know if this is a genuine Subaru part? I'm assuming it isn't because that web site listed other car manufactures as well. Not that I can read German or anything like that!

You guys are spending too much money on the bumper.

Just order the US part nuumber for the bumper cover, and you just cut the rebar, then put in the side marker lights and you can leave the fogs empty or put fogs in. Anyways you look at it, it is at least less than 1/2 of $1600 and also, for those who say "I want the "real" inner beam, well, then pay".

Actually I have several friends with RS's and cut rebars. One got into an accident here in Calgary. The insurance company didn't cover it b/c they said that the modificiations to the bumper caused such massive damage. So I don't know what you guys think... it's really up to you. As for ICBC, I heard that it's not that great of an idea... so if you do get into a fender bender, go home and get your original rebar put back on or something! *lol*

On a side note : I'm really glad that for the Legacys you don't need to cut anything to put on a new front bumper

Well yeah, of course they'll find out if you crashed hard right...
but if it's a bumper fender, like zero to none damage, then you should be fine...

Otherwise I don't know, are you willing to pay extra money for the rebar? Cause 5km and 10km won't matter that much if you get into an 80-100 km accident...

Keep the canadian bumper. I just hit some roadkill, bear cub, going about 90 km/h.
Smack on the middle right of the bumper and not even a dent. Of course the underside is torn away but the bumper seems fine except for some paint. Looks are one thing but protection is the ultimate. If I had a fibre glass bumper I'd have no bumper right now. Our re-bar works, my opinion is don't spend good money just for looks when it makes the car weaker.
By the way, I caught some serious air going over that cub, the car was fine however, a mini van hit the cub first and killed it. The mini van was trashed, Subes rule!

Have a Nice Day?

Hi, just signed up. I'm planning on buying a 2000 2.5rs sedan in the blue. At Frontier Subaru, they selling the freaking bumper for 1850, includes paint, fogs, signals, bars, etc... Is it worth it? Also, how low can I get for a deal for the RS? There's a new look (minor, but somewut significant change) to the 2002 model line. The invoice is about 23000 for the dealer, plus 1500 destination, so that comes to about 24500. They selling the beast for 28595, is that what you all paid? I hope not, coz I'm pretty certain it ain't worth that much. Yes, it's an Impreza, but, a 5000 jack up is freaking profit for the dealer on top of the company's sales profit for selling the car. Can it be sold between 25000-26500? I'm dealing for a 2000 model this month as the 2001 model debuts at the end of September. Please help me out. Thank you.

Actually it's the cars that's backing into you or you jerking to the pole in front doing about 8-10km/h that would destroy your fancy lil Ver. 5 bumpers with teh cut bar. Totally not worth it.
