Thumbs up TurboXS Stage 2 map

I just installed my Unichip with stage 2 mapping. I also have a BPM GT turbo-back and Vishnu uppipe.

Installation was fairly quick. Those of you with fewer than 10 thumbs will probably be able to do it in 30 minutes or so. Took me longer

I took it out for a quick spin and boy is it quick! It's actually a bit more subtle than I had imagined since the exhaust and uppipe have already eliminated turbo lag, hence no more big kick in the pants when the turbo spools. It just starts making boost almost from a standstill and pulls like mad until redline. 1st gear is like revving the engine in neutral and 2nd feels like 1st used to be. If your just cruising in 3rd and drop the hammer you will soon find yourself doing waaay over the speed limit. Also, I've heard that performance increases slightly over time as the ECU learns the new parameters. IMHO, this mod makes the engine behave the way it should have from the factory.

I would heartily recommend this to anyone.

Update - Christmas Day 2001: I just did a nice 200 mile round trip to mom's house for Christmas. One of the unfortunate side effects of a turbo-back exhaust and catless uppipe is frequent "Cat inefficiency" CELs. They would usually come on after 20-30 minutes of highway cruising. Well, the Unichip has changed all of that. Now, don't go banking on this to work for you, I'm simply relaying my own personal experience. My theory is that my car ran juuuust a hair too rich to get the cat working properly and now the leaner Unichip mapping has eliminated that. I'm hoping this is the end of my CELs; if not, then I'll be splicing a dummy O2 resistor into the Unichip harness.

Highway driveability is wonderful, passing and merging are effortless, and gas mileage is up. I went ~250 miles on about 2/3 of a tank. Better than usual. There were some part-throttle boost issues so I would definitely install the bleed valve that comes with the chip. For those of you who have never driven a Unichipped car, there is a distinct "event" when the Unchip starts doing its thing. It can be somewhat disturbing at first but you get used to it really quick

For those of you on the road this holiday season, please drive safely.

I`m sure it depends upon how many people send theirs back at the same time. I sent my back to be upgraded when they first mentioned the Stage 2 was available. It only took them 1 day to turn it around.

Even if its a few days it is well worth it in my opinion.
