Default Wanted: N/A EJ25 DOHC engine - complete or shortblock

I blew the spare engine in my Legacy a few weeks back, and it's going to be a while before I have the "real" engine together (need to get my heads back from TWE, and need to send block and rotating assy to machine shop still). So, in the meantime I'm looking for a running DOHC EJ25 so I can get the car back on the road!

I'm basically looking for a running engine so I can just yank the bad one and drop in the good one. However, if I can't get a good complete engine, a good shortblock will do the trick, as I can transfer the heads over from the blown engine to the good engine.

Anyone got anything out there? Thanks!

Didn't you just swap in a motor?

Sorry to hear about this. Might want to keep an eye out on craigslist for one.

I did, but it died. In hindsight, despite having ~80k fewer miles on it than the engine that came out of the car, it was noisier from the start. I just attributed it to the typical cold weather Subaru engine noises, and figured the replacement I had gotten was just noisier than my original engine. Perhaps that wasn't the case, and in fact the engine was already showing signs that it was going bad? I dunno.

I'd have to swap out the pistons to use his shortblock, since he's got the 11.2:1 pistons. With my DOHC heads that would put CR up around 12:1 I think. (I'm too lazy to figure it out right now). Not the quick solution (ha!) I'm looking for right now.

I went ahead and did the Ebay route, hopefully I'll have the engine by mid-week and I can swap it in next weekend.

The Ebay one is already paid for, so no joy. I do appreciate the offer, though.

I have an EJ25 N/A I'm about to pull from my 1996 Legacy GT project vehicle with 146K on it, it ran fine, as far as I know and is in good condition head gasket wise and belts and what not (you may need to swap in a new alternator though, but thats about it)

I'll probably be pulling it sometime next week, but could do it this weekend if you really needed me to. I cant give it free to you, but let me know what if anything you may be looking to spend for it (cheapsies is fine, just not too cheap)
