earplugs?
I don't know if it's a problem specific to STi's, but am I the only one that finds these cars too noisy? I have a 30minute commute each morning and I find that by the time I get to work, my ears feel "tired". Granted, the car has an exhaust on it, but the wind and road noise is nearly unbearable on longer trips. I admit I like driving with the windows down sometimes, but even with the windows up, it's still tiring.
I've had the car for ~9months now and it seems like my tinnitus has become noticably worse... Do any of you guys drive with earplugs? Any recommendations? Obviously wearing earplugs that block out too much sound while driving are dangerous, but I'd like to get a set that will bring down the overall noise level without attenuating the midrange frequencies (human speech, sirents, etc) too much.

I would start with a different exhaust. Someone has a prodrive oval in the classifieds for $350. This is one of the quietest aftermarket exhausts you can get. If you want quieter still, try to get a stock sti axleback.
I hear putting dynamat in the trunk works pretty good too. |

Ya I would say Dynamat the hole floor pan and trunk... not sure about wind noise?? Is that with the windows down? I have the SPT cat back exhaust and don't find it to loud. And I was driving to Baker one to two times a week all winter and thats a 1.75-2.25 hrs each way. Maybe get some good mid range speakers and Sirius radio to drown it out too...

imagine if even you cant stand the noise in the car, how can the people on the street? change your exaust....before you got pull-over for being to loud (which is what i got, also get a VI too). the police office is so nice and he told me to be more considerate of people on the street standing this noise and polution because people like me drives around with NO CAT on the car.
therefore, i went back to stock for half year and be laughed at wrx with no mod on exaust = civic ? i guess so/ |
