I have 02 wrx
mods to it are:
hks tbe
k&n filter
sti intercooler
my question is? do I have to change everything TBE or just the dp with HKS CB exhaust to pass smog check? otherwise I would have to get stock cb and dont have the money to buy it right now

If anyone knows of a "nice" and "lenient" place that will pass me for smog testing please PM me, i have the stock mid-pipe and muffler to put on for the test, but otherwise my car is fully built with a built 2.5l, 740cc inj., FMIC, rotated 30R, etc. So obviously i'm looking for a lenient place if anybody knows if one please PM me with the information. Thanks!

does anyone happen to have a stock dp for an 06-07 wrx that I could borrow to get smogged? I'm running a high flow catted dp with Invidia G200 Catback, and will definitely not pass smog running Cobb OTS stage 2. I'm planning to get protuned soon, but still need to pass smog.

Hey guys,

New member, long time lurker here.

I recently moved to San Diego from Colorado and need to get smogged before I register it. So my question is do you think I could pass a smog-check?

2007 2.5i
K&N drop-in
Godspeed catback exhaust

Does the addition of any aftermarket (non-stock looking) exhaust automatically fail a visual check. I do have the silencer for the exhaust if that would help me in any way.

Your fine. The cat back is OK as long as you keep your factory catts.

They may not notice the TGV deletes but, the air pump is something easy to notice missing.

What up guys..
Just moved to San Diego from Michigan..
My car is modified, no cats.

I still have a homestead in michigan, so i'm going to keep the car registered there.
I don't need to worry about testing if my car is registered out of state... right??

Assuming you are going to keep your license current in MI you should be ok, however if a cop really wants to write you a ticket for it they can if they think you are staying here longer than just a visit, which it sounds like you are.

Default CA inspection/CARB #

Originally from MA I put in the SPT air intake in my 02 wrx (also have the exhaust) but i went to get it inspected last year and they made put my original airbox back in. I do not have this CARB # for the intake that they are looking for. I am not really sure what it is but I would like to avoid having to put the airbox back in this year. Any ideas...can i just go to a dealer and get a number or a place i can go that doesnt require that number. other than that i have no issues. Thanks for any help and time.

Hey guys. I'm trying to buy a car right now that's modded. The seller wants me to front him the money for smog and wait 2 days, so I'd rather do it myself. If anyone has a hookup in the LA area please PM me. Thanks in advance. I'm in a rush, I'll make it up to you.

So one question. I'm catless on my up and downpipe. I have the stock downpipe. If I switch to only have the stock downpipe with the catless uppipe, will I pass smog?

I am wondering because in what ever year I think they went to catless uppipes right? Did that affect the whole configuration or can I get by without the uppipe?

You'll be fine with a catless uppipe. It does not effect emissions and therefore will not cause any problems. I've passed twice with a catless uppipe.

Did it fail NOx <emissions
Or in the functional exam did it have a check engine light on with a P0420 code?

Just passed at a test-only...with the following:

06 WRX Wagon
VF43
GS EBCS
4" TurboXS Catless DP w/ Stealthback mid-pipe and Highflow cat
APEX Worldsport muffler
STi TMIC
Clark Turner Pro-tune

The tech totally overlooked the DP. I had managed to trim and fit the stock heatshield, so maybe that helped.

Good tune + single cat seem to do the trick.

EDIT: Went in for my smog today and failed first time around. So they did a preconditioning routine to warm up the cat and it passed!! But barely. Hallelujah!!

I gotta go in for my smog soon and am running the following:

2004 STi
Stage 2 open source tune by Cobb
GT Spec II UEL headers
Cobb catted DP
Cobb SF Intake w/ box
Prodrive axleback
Prodrive EBCS
One step colder plugs

Anyone have similar mods and passed? Please let me know. Thanks!
