Post venting about having to get my bumper repainted

Hey
So after driving on Buffalo's salt covered roads I had all these little nicks on the front bumper from the salt. It looked like it was covered in lint or something but I could deal with it. But then on the drive home for Easter the hubcap from another car in the next lane fell off and was rolling straight towards me. I couldn't do anythign but just hit it. The thing was plastic and just shattered into million pieces. When I stopped I noticed a grapefruit sized area with paint missing. Not too much damage though, little scratches. So I had an estimate to repaint my bumper and it came out to $430. Not too bad but still a lot.
BLAH anyway just wanted to share that with people. Next time I'll know to put on the poor man's bra.

I just got my whole front bumper repainted because of scratches recieved when I tapped someone in the rearend. Total bill:$225.
This was a complete repainting if the entire bumber. Looks perfect. No overspray, no nothing. I guess that I am trying to say that is was not half-assed. Get more quotes, that is way high.

You think that was crappy for you? Get this! I was at full stop (it was red)... I check my rear mirror all the time. I checked, and the mustang was at full stop too. Soonest I look to the front again, BANG, the mustang ran into me. I was like, what the F***?!?! Luckily there was not much damage to my car except few scratches here and there...

So anyway I went to this other place for a quote and the guy immediately said it'll be about $500 since they'd have to take off the bumper and strip away all the old paint. So he asked me if I got an estimate from some place else and I told him about the first place and the $430 quote and he said he can do the job for about $380 so now it's going in this wednesday. And a free loaner to abuse.

You're lucky it was just your bumper. You should see my hood and bumper....Ugh! I did touch up paint for now (lots of it!), but when I have time, the hood will get repainted and the bumper will be replaced (it has a really bad curb scratch on one side). I'm hoping I can get everything done for under a grand since my brother knows a guy who works in a body shop.

Garface (or anyone with 22B), how much was it to paint your 22B wing? My 22B wing is at a shop right now to be painted and they quoted me at 179$ canadian.

I ordered it painted from Europe, so I don't know exactly what the price of painting was. But I have heard around $300US just to get it done well.
