Default HKS Type 0 Turbo Timer

Now there was a previous review of a Type-1 timer and these are similar in function but the Type-1 is a higher model with features like added monitoring and metering functions such as RPM, time to speed/distance, peak hold & warning features and a stopwatch for lap times.

So the install is basic and instructions can be found all over this forum so I will not get into that. But I'd like to thank Ivan(iv30) for installing mine for me during one of the NW install days.

You do have to tap into the ECU for RPM signal.... For what reason I don't know. But it would have been nice that HKS added RPM monitoring into the unit as the wire was hooked up.

With the unit installed and powered on it's a bright orange. So it is not a stock match for the dash lights. Not a big deal to me as my Nakamichi CD player I had installed is orange lit, so it matches that quite well and they are right near each other anyways.

The left top button is your on/off and mode button. Fro mthere you turn it on, go to either the timing function or the voltage function. The right buttons are preset times that you can use rather than programming in a particular time. You can have up to 10minutes I believe for a VERY VERY hard run.

When the unit is on and the timing function engaged, once you turn off the car it goes into coutdown mode. In that mode, it flashes between orange and red. Again it's very bright! Perhaps this is a bad thing to some as they want items to compliment their interior. But to me, it's good as it serves as a visual warning that the unit is counting down and it will shut down soon. It does beep also during countdown.

Overall it serves it's purpose and is a reasonably priced unit with no flaws just pure functionality. Not flashy nor does it include unneeded accessories.

Where did you locate the TT? I'm thinking about putting mine next to the top cupholder. If possible, you think you can take a pix of where you located it at? thanks....

I mounted mine under the dash.

It doesn't get in the way, used some strong double sided tape.

I have the type 1 that i purchased for $95

I have an aftermarket radio so I have a pocket under my radio. The TT sits there. Soon my Greddy Profec will be there too. Currently I gave up my ash tray for it. But it's nice to have an ashtray for coins.

I'm pretty sure it is the brown color wire.

I'll double check later

Default Ignition timer

Hey:

Just did this myself, though using the Apex timer.

The E-brake wire is to the right of the brake, at the base of its pivot point, and the wire is pink. I'm thinking of relocating the E-brake signal to a momentary switch elsewhere, as the engaged E-brake discos a 12V signal to the computer. That way, a switch or button with a potential 12V signal somewhere can be hit to shut off the timer, E-brake on or not.

By the way, the blank panel to the left of the cup holder is just the right size for an HKS EVC, with a little trimming. Save it for that. You don't need regular access to the ignition timer, so you can park it somewhere low-key. Mine went in the glove box

I think the unit keeps the max rpm...even tho it is not a function... i think it uses this to determine how long to Turbotime, when u put it on auto... this is prolly the reason for the rpm connector to the ecu.

Peace

Default Type 1

I want to know for the Memory Mode....
If I can set my own time rather than have it set to 1 min and the second memory to 3 min??? for exmaple..... Memory 1 is set to 2 minutes instead of 1 min and memory 2 set to 7 minutes instead of 3 min........

Also for the auto mode, does it only have the maximum of 5 minutes??? does that mean if i have being driving the car really hard for 30 minutes it will only still stay at a maximum of 5 minutes or will it go higher than 5 minutes???

Also is the Greddy TT good?? and what is the maximum time for Greddy..?

Hope you guys can help me out...
