Default Cancelling Subaru Added Security

I called SoA and the dealer and it says I get a prorated refund which generally means how much do I get back?

Anyone with experience?

Depends on how many miles you got on your vehicle currently, and also how much time there's left on the warranty(how many months/years).

It will be based off how many months/miles on the vehicle and such.

I have cancelled mine a few times because I had sold the car. Like the others said what you get back all depends on how many miles you have and how far you are into the warranty. I have been thinking about doing the same thing.

Well I went to the dealer on Tuesday and cancelled my extended warranty with no questeions asked. Of coarse they tried to talk me out of it. So they would leave me alone I told them I was selling the car and so I didn't need it anymore. Getting a pretty good chunk of change back.

pro-rated like tires if you will. and as others have stated. everyone gets back a different amount. visit the finance department to cancel. the longer you wait, the less you get back.

Does anyone know exactly how the refund is calculated?
My warranty cost me $1980 for 72months or 120,000Km.
I canceled it at 15 months / ~36,000km

Based on my calculations which were:
The $100 is the cancellation fee
((1-(15/72))*1980)-100=1467.5
((1-(36000/120000))*1980)-100=1286

So of course I would get the lesser of the two amount but my refund was only $625 which is half of what I expected.

This is where looking at the paperwork is key. What does it say?

All it said was the amount would be prorated based on the amount of km on the vehicle or the time I've had the car less $100 cancellation fee.

It's not unreasonable to have Subaru provide the details of how they calculated your refund.

I'm thinking this isn't a subaru plan(added security)?? I know on my contracts it is a $50 cancel fee. Do they sell Added Security in Canada? A few years ago I went on a trip to New England. We took a side trip into Canada. I remember asking if my car would be covered if I had a breakdown (it was just before I had that fuel smell fixed under my contract at my local dealer. I had just started smelling fuel on cold mornings). They gave me an 800 number to call. I remember being told specifically that I had to call before any repairs were done. They are covered in Canada even though my contract wasn't sold in Canada. OP - does your contract say it is Added Security? Maybe it is and it costs more to cancel it up there? Worth looking into. 50 bucks is 50 bucks!
