Default Bearing preload for center diff transfer gears.

As the title says. I'm asking about setting up the center diff with the proper bearing preload. The specs call for a shim washer .2-.3 mm thicker than the measured gap to establish the preload. However with even .15-.1 the shaft is difficult to spin... seeming to be too much preload. Any suggestions from someone who has set one up?
