Talking Yet another blue 2.5RS to hit the streets... ;)

Hello to all you Vancouver-area Subaru drivers

Getting my new blue (sorry couldn't resist ) 5 speed 2000 Impreza 2.5RS coupe on Monday or Tuesday. I got mine from Jack Cheung of Don Docksteader Subaru. Anybody else dealt with him?

Anyways, according to him I have the last new blue 5 speed 2.5RS coupe in western Canada. Probably b.s.ing me, but oh well. Anything I should look for before I pull it off the lot? (My test-drive car had a busted power window and a jammed door.)

Anyways, just wondering if anybody could recommend a good alarm system/remote entry system for the Impreza. Any good, cheap places in the 604 to get it installed? Also, can the trunk be hooked up so that I can open the trunk with the remote?

Thanks in advance.

Ah, welcome Ovaltine. I think Orbiter knows people that can hook you up. If he's too busy with Britney or something like that, you can always go to Boyz Club in Richmond because they are one of our sponsers and we get a discount there. Looking forward to seeing more new people at the next meet. By the way, anyone ever see a cute looking asian girl who drives a MY99 Rally Blue RS in Richmond? I wanted to make a u-turn to flag her down but there was a cop staring me down right behind me. Oh yeah, don't forget to get a locking gas cap at Canadian Tire.

Question

Vege,

Why a locking gas cap??

do people steal gas in Vancouver or even worse sabotage our Subarus?

I hope you will be having fun in your new car!

They said the same thing to me last year - last rally blue MY99 in western Canada. I believed them since they had to go to the trouble of trading a black one with a dealership in Alberta to get the blue! Only took 2 weeks to ship and prep. Not bad...

As for the gas cap, I saw they had a bunch on clearance at the garage sale so you can ask when you pick up your ride and see if you can get it thrown in for free or something... Don't forget to look over yer new car when you go to pick it up. Even make sure the cigarette plug cap is there, mine was missing.

Did I miss something? When did BoyzClub become one of our sponsors?

Haven't heard of anyone stealing gas from our Subarus but you can't be too safe. Spending $15 on something as simple as a locking gas cap may prevent problems that would cost more. I don't know about other people but someone has messed with my car before by pouring some sort of drink all over my car . It didn't damage the paint but it did leave large white patches all over the rear of my car for a while. With all the nice cars in Vancouver, I didn't expect to be messed with but I guess there are a lot of jealous people out there just to mess with other's property. Boyz Club became one of our sponsers a couple months ago. It should be posted in the EGroups forum.

Hmmmmm.... In that case, maybe I should get the locking gas cap that sport bikes have???

Does anyone know if someone has done this to their car?

Ovaltine -- Congrats on your purchase. Too bad you don't have enough time to break your car in because next Saturday (July 8th) we're having an AWD performance driving class at Boundary Bay. Don't worry though, depending on how this one goes, we may have another one soon.

Also, there is a Vancouver Impreza Owner's Club, and yes, BoyzClub is one of our sponsors. We're near the end of hashing out the details of the club, but we'll be having another meet sometime soon. If you want more info, please feel free to email me.

LaterZ!
Darren!!

Thank you all for the warm reception

Vege: Thanks for the tip about the locking gas cap.

Penphoe: Man, I would LOVE to take some driving courses. But first I gotta learn how to drive stick. (sympathy pain for my Sube's clutch... ouch) Oh well... give me some time.

BTW, does anybody have wheel locks on their Subes? Is it worth it?

Before taxes and freight it was $25.6K with CD, metallic paint, floor mats, and "decor" (rubber lining around wheelwell).

You paid for the rubber decor? IMHO I think that's a ripoff.

So anyone got the hookups on that hot chick Impreza driver? =

Keiho: Oh yea... the rubber decor ($199) is a ripoff, but the guy just threw it in at the last minute. I didn't really want the CD player either (aftermarket is better) but the guy wouldn't come down on the price, so I gouged for options and crap.

Question

Ovaltine:

First off,

Welcome to the club!!!

Second, would you be willing to sell your stock CD player? If so, at what cost?

I want to also get an aftermarket deck (Pioneer perhaps), but first I plan on getting performance mods (Kevlar brake pads... TEIN shocks ), then audio...

Ovaltine: you do realize that the rubber decor they "install" when the car is in the lot right? You should've just told them that you don't want it in there, and if they put it on, you walk. That's what I did...they wanted to rip me off, but I don't think they wanted to lose the sale.

Ashton: I don't think I would be selling the CD player, but I'll let you know if I do.

Keiho: Yea, but oh well, I do want that rubber lining around the wheel well though. An extra precaution againt rust.
That sticker stripe down the side of the car I can always take off later.
