Default Karma=real; Meth-head neighbor lady in STi head-on w/my pal, nearly DIAF...must read!

Wow, it has been a long and crazy day/night...

Let me start by saying that I do not wish pain or suffering on anyone, and my heart goes out to the ~10 year old girl who was apparently badly injured in this incident, but I'm getting ahead of myself- here's the whole story (CN at bottom):

I have a known meth-user neighbor lady who lives about a mile or so away (I live in a rural 5-100 acre parcel area, so despite the distance, that's my 'neighbor') who has a black '05 STi (and had a blue WRX before it). We've talked a few times because she knows about my car, meets I've had at my place, etc., but I try not to make a habit of consorting with known dealer/users (coke and meth). When she and her husband (nice guy) got a divorce not too long ago, she was out of work and selling a few things to pay bills. I bumped into her around then, and as I'm always looking for good deals on stuff, rolled by to check out what she was selling (other than drugs!) One was a nice pop-up garage, kind of like a company display booth at SEMA or something, and her price was reasonable, so I gave her a 50% deposit (as I was out of work at the time and couldn't pay in full). This was in December '06, ~5 months ago.

Fast forward to this morning... I finally have some loose cash in my pocket (tax return) and so around lunchtime today, I went to see if I could give her the other 50% and pick up the garage, mostly b/c I have a friend riding a GSXR up from FL and nowhere to park it right now. Anyhow, I went to her place of work, which is a nursery at the end of my road, and asked her about it. She said that when she hadn't heard from me, she had called me and left several messages (*lies*, I always return calls, even if they're caller ID with no message) and that because she hadn't heard from me, she had sold it to someone else (to feed her habit?). I reminded her that I had already provided a 50% deposit, and had made it clear at the time that it would be awhile before I had the rest, to which she responded "I don't remember that, and I doubt you have a receipt, so sorry..." (!!!) I didn't want to have her meth-head boyfriends breaking in and stealing my crap (she has offered me a variety of stolen goods before, as well as coke and meth, all of which of course I declined!), so I decided to cut my losses, literally said, "Well, I guess it is what it is..." and walked away without so much as a 'goodbye'.

I was still SO pissed off, I was steaming, and I called both my wife and my best friend to vent about the situation. They both advised me that I had done the right thing by not provoking her, and BOTH said that karma would come around to teach her a lesson... Here's where it gets a little crazy:

I had a good friend over around dinner time, who had never actually been to my place before (as it is off the beaten path, and down gravel- he normally drives an XLR). He, his fiancee and her sister came up in a Denali he recently bought, we had a single glass of wine (sister B actually had water), and they departed around 8 or so. My last words to them were (as I always instruct guests) "Please drive carefully". The roads around my house are notoriously dangerous... see Rocky Point Road in Oregon for details (<-my location).

15 minutes later, I get a frantic call... it's J (friend's fiancee) sounding panicked, and saying "We just got in a head-on with a car on Rocky Point... it's bad, and there's a little girl who's hurt pretty bad." Despite the fact that she hasn't described the car or the driver, I instantly picture that it's K (the meth-head lady) as she is always driving insanely on that road, taking up both lanes, and usually drunk/high at that (I've seen her with a Coors Light in hand while driving!). Since M drives a Denali, I'm picturing a mangled STi, as that's about a 2:1 weight difference. I don't ask for the details, but I jump in my truck (brakes on the wrx need attention, so it's parked) and bail down the hill. As I round the corner where I saw lights, there are flares, a fire truck, an ambulance, M's Denali and sure enough... the STi with a totally mashed front end, literally on fire with FD hosing it down with the white stuff.

M was with a cop giving his statement, and his fiancee and sister walk up the road to where I stopped. I told J "Look, this woman and I already have our issues, so I can't get involved in this... if you three are okay, can you call me when she's gone to pick you up?" She says sure, and they walk back down to the accident scene.

I roll back up the road. About an hour later, they call, I pick them up, and here's what they tell me:

They were driving carefully down the road (again, in a big, new Denali on an unfamiliar winding road) when the black STi came flying around the corner at an estimated 40+ mph. M tried to dodge to the right, but there's a cliff-edge, so he couldn't go far, and she was 3/4 in his lane. The impact came, all the airbags went off, and the STi flew backwards across the road, already on fire. M jumped out and ran to the car to see the woman (K) get out with 2 handles of liquor which she promptly hurls over the cliff, her boyfriend gets out and walks toward M, asking "Are you okay?" to which M responds "I am, but your car is on fire, and your kid is in the backseat!"

He runs back to the car as if he had forgotten the kid was even in there, pulls the kid out with blood all over her face and arm (M said it looked like she had serious facial injuries, i.e. collapsed orbital) and drags her to the side of the road. M says "You're way too close and your car is burning, get farther up the road." Meanwhile, J is calling 911. K is digging through the car, throwing sixpacks of beer and empty cans over the side, and (I suspect) looking for her stash. Before long, the cops and FD arrive and the cop instantly surveys the scene and skidmarks. M's Denali's left tires left skids well on the right side of the double yellow and his right tires left skids in the gravel off the right shoulder. Her skids went straight into the opposite (M's) lane. He interviewed K first, then M, and basically tells M that he's of the opinion that this is clearly her fault, but that he will be back out tomorrow to survey the scene and take pics of the skids. M mentions the alcohol, the cop flashlights the edge, but it is too overgrown and steep to see anything. K and her boyfriend leave in another car that arrives to get them, daughter goes off on a stretcher in the ambulance, M calls me, and I pick them up and bring them to my place. Another friend from their hometown is called to pick them up, from ~1.5 hrs away. M has a badly swollen/bloody knee and bruised forearm, J is mostly fine, but has a ringing in her ear from the airbag explosion, and her sister B, who was sitting sideways in the backseat has a badly bruised ribcage. I dole out Ibuprofen and Cabernet, and we await the friends, who arrived not too long ago to pick them up.

I know that was long winded, but I had to share, and I knew OT would want to know about the STi that DIAF... my friends are mostly okay, the little girl (straight A student despite her druggie mom) will probably heal, but both cars are totalled. Rocky Point Road claims two more cars, and I still haven't eaten dinner. Karma's a motherfusker.

CN: Meth-head Mommie who I haven't seen/talked to in months screws me out of money earlier today, later slides STi into oncoming traffic, who happens to be my friend in a Denali, STi bursts into flames, both cars totalled, some injuries, worst to meth mommie's young daughter, but no dead bodies.

I believe I'm going to have another glass of Cabernet right about now...

Meth maggots are the scum of society, how does that bitch afford an STi? It won't be long till she has no teeth, a horrible complexion, and burglarizes every house in your neighborhood.

She affords it because her mom is rich, so their lawyers hosed the ex-husband, and yeah, the burglary aspect is why I walked away from the deposit.

Feel good story except the kid and my friends... but yeah, hoping the kid's okay too...

I seriously hope that woman gets everything that is coming to her. Glad to hear your friends are alright, and that her little girl is in good health despite having a terrible guardian.

Did you *honestly* think that a meth head would honor a 5+ month deposit ?

Sucks for the kid ..

Did they do a toxicology/field sobriety test on her? You'd think so, especially with the witness of bottles and cans (just clap your hands) over the edge.

And BTW - I'm sure your friend isn't a big believer in karma right now....unless he screwed you over something as well.

You better *without ANYONE knowing, including OT* MAKE DAMNED SURE something happens to her, whether its major rehab, CPS, etc.

Don't let this go under the rug like so MANY cases.

In thinking about it more, you may need to have your friends call the cops, tell them what they witnessed, how they put the child's life in danger by driving under the influence, and have the cops call CPS. That kid is in serious trouble with those cretins.

Cops are involved, things are in process. I probably shouldn't say much more, but my friend is quite wealthy (8 digit wealthy, and not behind the decimal pont), has his lawyer on retainer working this, has been in touch with both ins. agencys and sheriff, and the meth-head hasn't even filed a claim with her own ins. yet. M is very concerned for the well-being of the little girl, moreso than his new rig. This will get resolved, and I hope for the betterment of the situation for the little one.

^^^Actually, 'Blindeye', I have had those conversations with the cops, and unless they catch her doing it, it's hearsay... much like if I were to call the sheriff in your town and say, "Hey, I saw Blindeye doing a 130 mph wheelie on his SV650N down A1A... do you think they'd do anything???

She has numerous stops and tickets, but again, rich mom = good lawyers.

I'm heading out now to go take pics of the skids & scene.

Hope the best for the girl and your friends. I hope they told the cops to give her some tests as with suspicion of DDing she should have gotten field tests then off to jail for a wiz/blood quiz....

Very curious as to this as well, as I would assume she was tested. If she wasn't
