Default Most Awkward Part?

I want to know what everyone thinks on what is the most awkward designed part in their Legacy. -->ie "why did they put this part here/make it like this?"

My vote goes for the cup holder on my 98 Legacy, right in the way of temp and radio controls if you have Supersized drinks in them. What were they thinkin?

I think the most awkward part that I have not replaced on my 98 Legacy GT would have to be the motor. I can not understand why Subaru would build such a beautiful car with so litte power. I would give anything for 50 to 100 more horesepower (well almost anything). I can only imagine what my car would be like with 220 horsepower .

The cup-holder in my 98 takes the cake! Although it was exactly the same in my 91 LS too, so I've had some time to get used to it! Can't think of anything else that's so poorly thought out or designed though, so at least it's a small thing to live with. The two different moon-roof switches aren't exactly "intuitive" but I'm getting used to them too.

Without doubt .... the cupholder ... with anything in it ... it blocks most of the controls to the receiver and cd player ...

course I wouldnt call the engine hp ... awkward ... just lacking hp ... what this car would be like with 220 to 250 horses ... boy would SOA ever clean up ... go right past the BMW 330 xi and Audi S4 IMHO ...

For me, it's the sunroof that stops closing half-way... Every time I close it, and it stops itself, I find myself wondering what Subaru was thinking.

Ya
I agree that the sunroof makes no sense especially that it stops halfway ( maybe safety feature, but annoying ) and the fact that there are two switches for the sunroof instead of one.

Hand's down for me..... the door locks. Why do we need to hold the handle up to keep the door locked? I'm used to it now (in fact now that I've installed keyless entry I don't need to worry about it at all) but none of my passengers know so I had to wait for them to close their doors, then I could properly close and lock mine.

I'd have to say the cupholders followed by the windows without frames. After a while the seals start to leak resulting in this persistent wind noise in the cabin. Kinda sounds like the window's open but I can't close it anymore

Since everyone already mentioned the first things that pop in my head... one other thing that has annoyed me is the floor mats that came with my car and say Legacy on them. They cover the floor for poop, mainly the driver's, and since the driver's one has no anchor I am constantly repositioning it just about every time I get in the car. This is minor but I figured I would just bring it up since I did not want to repeat what has already been said.

The floor mat thing bothered me until I broke down and bought some new ones. For some reason, they don't move now. They are OEM but they aren't EXACTLY like the old ones. Much better.

The rear seats in my sedan don't fold down. Almost every other sedan in this class has fold down rear seats. That little pass through in the middle of the seat is pretty useless.

Doesn't bother me all that much because I have a little pickup to haul stuff around in. If I didn't have the truck I would have bought a GT Wagon.

Seems the cup holder is out in front followed in a close second by the Sunroof. And in third, tagging along is the rubber band of an engine(which needs a turbo or two)!

cup holder doesn't bother me...my LCD does a good enough job of blocking the A/C unit anyways. my biggest complaint outside of the above mentioned (lack of power) is the [email protected] head gaskets problems w/our engines (DOHC).

I would have to say, in order:

Power (or lack thereof)
the RE-92's
non-folding rear seat
sunroof
paint quality

I must be overlooking something simple but I can't think of what an re92 is? And I agree that the sunroof button shouldn't have to be hit several times to close them all the way. There should be a speed button that I could tap to open or close all the way. Kinda like the way you can press the window button all the way and it will roll it all the way down for you instead of having to keep the button held down the whole time.

I also think it is awkward that the lock button seems to be backwards from most cars I've ever been in. And even though the poor engine power and frameless windows are annoying, I don't think they are necessarily 'awkward'...

That's right, I've read that before. Too many things go into the head that it's hard to find where I put that info when I need it...
