Default whats a good price for a used wrx?

There is a black 2002 WRX for sale, 5spd, has 11000 miles on it. The dealer wants 21K. I cant find pricing for a 2002 with 11K miles.

Tell me its a good deal at 21 and I wont try to talk them down.

yeah that is way too much, with the recent car market.. you can probably get a new one for 2.5k to 3k more. Or you can probably talk the dealer down from 21k to 20k, even 19.

The price may or may not be ok, depends on what options are on the car. The BBS wheel package and some other stuff can boost the price easily, and 11k miles for a car that could be ~9 months old is really not that bad. Need more information that what you posted to judge...

As for talking a dealer down on a used car price, never accept the price on the car as marked, always baragin with them!!

Always ALWAYS bargain with the dealer. Any good used car shopper will tell you that the sticker on the window is for suckers!!

Here's my reccommendation - offer them $18,000, and then bargain from there - you might get laughed at, but you also might be really surprised by what price you get it for. If that car has 11K miles, then they probably raped the poor guy who traded it in. Most times you can get a used car for a few hundred over what the dealer paid for it on trade-in. So, guess at $17,500 - $18,500 dealer cost, and don't pay much more than that

Just my 2cents

It depends on what options it comes with...but it doesn't seem to be very good at all. 11K miles is a lot for such a short time, IMHO.

Consider that you can get a bare WRX sedan 5MT new for $22801 (including freight) at Van Bortel Subaru.

I would think $17K would be the right price...but others will probably disagree with me.

I don't know the options b/c I haven't seen the car yet but I dont think it has the BBS wheels. It may have an alarm. I just wanted to get a ballpark figure on what I could get it for.

What about doing a trade-in too? I have a 92 pathfinder with about 94K miles, 5spd. I was hoping I could get 4 or 5K for it on a trade.

I worked at a Ford dealership for a summer during college and it was my experience that dealers often make more money with used cars. They ususally try to make at least $1,000 or so. It really depends on what they gave for trade in...I am assuming that they didn't have to spend a penny on the car to make it saleable, but $21K sounds too high. Finance a new one!! Who knows how hard those 11K miles are.

I bought a used WRX with 1700 miles on it from a dealer. Has a rear spoiler, upgraded sound system, including subwoofer, armrest extension box , carbon-fiber look trim and Lojak theft-recovery. Price: $21,000.

Dealer Invoice on a brand new WRX is around $22,500, and as others have mentioned they can be had for not much more than that at some dealers. I would say if you can't get the used one for around $17,500 or so don't do it.

$4K will buy a lot of mods, but it'll also buy you some piece of mind knowing you have a brand new car and full factory waranty.
