Default Belt squeal NOT going away at high rpm!!

Okay, so I just recently replaced both accessory belts, and replaced the tensioner pulley for the a/c belt about 4 months ago. Both belts are SUPER tight as a result of trying to make the squeal go away but it still happens. It never squeals at idle, only if the motor hasn't really warmed up yet & if I accelerate quickly. Once it gets hot under the hood, the noise stops happening. What else can I do??

Have you tired setting the belts up at the correct tension?

No, I don't have the correct tool to gague belt tension. I thought about it, though, and I don't think i've ever been able to get it to squeal while in neutral....maybe it's not a belt issue at all?? What else would emit a really loud squealing sound only above 4k rpm, only while the under hood temps are still relatively cool & only while in gear?? Now that I think about it, it starts squealing right when I would normally hear my turbo sucking (I have an HKS UP so it's a bit more audible). Could there be something airflow-wise making this noise? An exhaust leak wouldn't squeal, would it? ugh! i'm toally lost on this one...

BAHAHA!! Found the culprit! I did a bit of research on here, then immediately went out & did a Sea Foam-through-the-brake-boost-line test & sure enough, smoke comes POURING out of the UP-manifold connection. Someone should add the "Banshee Scream Fix" to an FAQ or something, haha. Looks like i'll be purchasing a new gasket tomorrow (had to re-use the OEM one when I installed it, so I guess i've been lucky 'til now) I guess I could probly let a bit of tension off my belts now, too......

Could you put this in lame terms? I'm having the same Banshee Scream from my 04. I've recently had the intercooler off, and the bpv off. Could this have caused the problem?

what he's saying is that he has an exhaust leak at the most bothersome joint, manifold to up pipe, and that under load when the backpressure rises it makes a squeal/whistle/etc.

I've got that as well now that its cold out...takes a couple seconds at high boost and the banshee screams. Good info OP.
