Question new wrx

with all the talk about the 02wrx being here soon, has anyone heard or seen if we will get a different front bumper? I think the body looks ugly, especially the headlights, but i like the interior looks pretty cool.

I really doubt we will have a different bumper... since this new WRX is considered as a world car...

The bumper will be the least of my worries since my main concern will be the actual MSRP...

If you want a slight preview of what the car looks like...

check out the new outback... has almost the exact same front as the new WRX

i don't think anyone would pay 55 grand for an impreza, wrx or other wise. I remember hearing somewhere that it would be under $40,000cad which is still kinda pricy, considering i paid $25,000 for my 00rs, it's almost doubled. there are a lot of nicer cars out there in the 40 grand range.

55 Grand!!!! Hahahahahaha
I will buy you one if it costs that much. The reason Subaru never brought us cars like the 22b and the P1 is because people will never pay that. The WRX will be competitively priced. $35-40K tops.

Even assuming a low price of $35k, after taexes, etc. the car is at least 40 large. Thus my reasoning in justifying the purchase of an RS.

Add $15k in mods to my car (minnam et. al.), and I gaurantee it will run circles around a mere WRX. Heck with $20k in mods to the RS, I'll bet we could be close to knockin' on the door of a 22B.

Well, if the new look grown on you, well, Subaru has a year to make it grow on me... I've looked at MY02 impreza over and over again, and I dunno... I'm still not sold... Although the turbo is a real plus, so if SOC makes it real pricey and I can't get a WRX, I'll probably just stick with my MY99 TS and use the money I saved up to buy a turbo kit for my car... or a Yamaha YZF-600R...

Subaru is still saying around 38k-40k cdn. I don't really think this is too much for what you get. It would be more worth it if we could get the six speed tranny reputed to be shipping in the new STi models, but what can you do? I'm still gonna drive one before I decide if I am going to switch or not.

Have a Nice Day?

i agree with Robin. the new look is starting to grow on me, cept all these goodies that come on the new WRX [momo steering wheel, 17" rims, the engine...] would make it a pricey car. i'm thinking the MSRP would prolly come out to 33-35k CAN when it comes out. anybody hear any actual ballpark figures?

I am thinking 38k....being 40k tops. Otherwise I'll walk.
I mean come on.... it is a smaller displacement engine than what we have here! And an RS costs less than 27k. So we're looking at 10k for the extra 40-50hp? Any more is just too much.
Having said that, I much prefer a tried and true EJ207 engine than the "let's poke around with the EJ25" block. Also with less than a thousand dollars for better intake, exhaust an some other mods like stickers you can be hitting 250hp should the car comes with 215hp. So still better than spending alot of time tuning and retuning and retuning and putting more money on all sorts of computer control systems on a N/A Impreza turbo.

Cool

Under normal circumstance I would agree with you gambit, but with the TEC II system that everyone south of the border is raving about, for the difference in price between our Imprezas and the new WRX, you could have 300+hp. And that's without 5 different "piggy-bakc" computers, but with one TEC-II system that does it all.

Keep in mind, once you buy a TEC II, you can use it on any car (assuming you know enough about engine tuning). IMO, its $4k (US$2500)well spent.
