i've tried searching for this info, but either i suck at using teh search, or its just too hard to find (for me). links to other applicable threads would also be appreciated.
general idea: i want better brakes. my wagon is a daily driver, and i'm just not satisfied with its braking power. it is a 97 legacy wagon with ABS (4 wheel disc brakes). i think that going to 02~03 WRX brakes would be a good upgrade path because i think it would be easy, and they are better. so, my list of stuff = 1.) all 4 calipers 2.) all 4 brackets 3.) all 4 rotors + pads my questions begin here. 1.) what ss brake lines will i need to get? 2.) will the rears require new bearings? i am guessing that my car is a r160 rear end, and might accomodate the rears from a wrx without them. 3.) would the brake MC and booster from a wrx fit/work easily? would it be better to stick with my booster (i think its a single stage, but i'm not sure, please correct me if i'm wrong) 4.) would the brake MC / booster have any issues with my current abs unit? 5.) anything else I need to know in order to successfuly make the swap? thanks everyone! i hope i'm not being too noobish.

your rear brakes are the same as wrx rear brakes. You would only need the front rotors, brackets, and calipers.
You will want lines made for your car so they clip to the strut. Banjo bolt fittings are the same. WRX booster and MC need to be swapped together because old and new ones don't mix. Not sure when the change was. It's not necessary but I would do it. |

they are the same? i was looking at legacy777's spreadsheet and it listed the piston as being slightly smaller on the legacy than the wrx.
i am picking up the set of calipers/brackets together anyway so i thought i might as well take advantage of using the rear calipers if it was an easy swap. is that going to be a problem? |

I thought only the 90-94 Legacies had smaller rear pistons.
Either way it bolts right up. |
