Default I got WRX'd

I was coming out of autozone this morning carrying 12 quarts of B&M trickshift (only cost about $50, but still was more than I wanted to pay) and a young guy (college age, like myself) comes up and says:

"Hey, I like your car man! I heard that those can beat a mustang stock!"

Here I'm thinking... WOW! Someone thinks I have a fast car!

I was very flattered. I'm sure he wouldn't have said anything to me if he had seen me coast into the parking lot spewing AT fluid on the headers.

Anyway, I politely informed him of the differences between the legacy and impreza chassis and chatted for a bit about AWD (I pointed to the non-existent sidewall tread on all four of my tires).

Same thing happened to me the other day. I was pumping gas minding my own business and trying not to laugh at the Corolla with the two foot wing. The owner of the Corolla asks, "Yo is that the Infinity?". I said, "nope its a Subaru". He said, "Ah yo dude the WRX!" I said," no the Legacy". He replies, "I didn't know Subaru made that."

Stock for stock, a good driver in a WRX can indeed get the better of a Mustang GT. Not a Cobra, but a GT. It's all about the launch. This is in the dry, of course. In inclement weather like rain, a Legacy GT can whoop all over a Cobra (ah, when I had my GT wagon...).

If my GTI could beat a rustang a WRX could most certainly beat one. Mustang GT's are heavy and slow. Coupled with the fact that most of the rednecks that drive them can't drive to save their life.

yes, plenty of all-show/no-go cars around here. But, I did see a neon with a dragster-style hood scoop and it actually had some sort of huge engine in it. I don't know what the guy put in it, but it looked like it was out for revenge!!!

I drive a 5-speed so I don't need it but I always wondered if the trick shift stuff was any good or did anything special...
