Default Noise under car.....

I have an 02' WRX and lately I've been hearing something hit underneath the car when I make a right turn. I can feel it at my feet . I thought it was the exhaust but its not...I just installed Kartboy hangers and the exhaust doesnt move enough to hit. Any thoughts??
Thanks!

If it thumps with the rotation of your wheel then it could be the CV joint. How many miles on the car?

i have kartboys too. still had the exhaust banging, especially when brakig during during left turns and off-throttle cruising.

check to make sure the mid-pipe isn't hitting the rear crossmember. if it is hitting, you can either take it off and cut a little out (make sure to have a jack on the transmission) or tie the exhaust up with a large hose clamp or something.

if that's not it, then panic

Jack the car up and take a look around down there. Shake the exhaust (after it cools) see if it could conceivably make the noise.

^ HAHA, glad you resolved the issue. But the long Kartboy hangers do make a noticiable difference from my experience. I like to think that it provides a lower CG also, HAHA.

It could be your exhaust or just rocks and what not.

Don't feel too bad. At an autoX once I headed out to stage for my first run. It was a beautiful day, the course must have been designed by a Subie driver, I was feeling very confident and ready. The starter lets me go and on this particular course there was a hard left shortly after the start. I take that first corner and "WHAM, BANG, BOOM" something is making a horrible racket but the car is driving normal. I'm so paranoid and its really borking my run so after really letting up I glance in the backseat and for some reason I had put my portable air pump back there. What a waste of a run.

Glad you found it and it was simple.

long hangars. my exhaust was awesome with them, then I did a turbo swap which caused the problem again. I think the geometry of the DP changed slightly.

no biggie

Yep, I have the fun task of cranking my Sube up this coming weekend to route out a few noise issues. Pretty sure one is the endlinks and the new one sounds to be something exhaust related since it is like a resonating metal vibration when I am accelerating. Finally, lubing up the sway bushings so I can get rid of the squeeky bounce on bumps. Sounds like a couple on their honeymoon in a boxspring bed gone bad.
