Question gb on suspension?

hey guys,
i'm just posting to see if there would be any interest on starting a group buy for struts and springs. I was talking to jack from JC canada and what is available are either V5 or AGX struts and H&R or Tein springs. This is all tentative so no prices as of yet. If ur interested post so we can get this going.

Chris

Guys,

I bought my KYB/AGX from these guys... very professional and fast... They sell the KYB/AGX for $389 US and the shipping is free anywhere in the states.

Here's the site: http://www.p-s-t.com/kyb.html#agx

I got them shipped to my friend's office in New York (near the Canadian border) about 40 minutes from Ottawa.

I had to declare them and paid PST and GST on the goods. Overall, with the exchange rate and taxes, it cost me $670 Canadian for 4 struts.

If you asked for the items to be shipped to Canada, you'll have to pay around $40-60 US for the shipping...

Ok everyone here goes!

I've contacted Chris @ TRi Tuning, he's the only place that carries in stock the TEIN's springs for the Imprezas and Legacys. Here's the deal. I'm not selling you guys the stuff, only setting up the GB for you guys. Chris has been really good and giving us a really good break. $400US for the KYB AGX's and $175US for the TEIN springs, in medium or soft. So that's $575US for the combo plus shipping. (Usually the TEIN's will go for $225US and the AGX's anywhere from $430-$450US... but in the best case scenerio you've saved $80US w/ this GB) I can offer to help you guys out with shipping since I have a DHL account. I checked with them and for a 2 day air service all inclusive, it'll be $135+GST Canadian inclusive to ship the suspension.

These prices are the ones that Chris @ TRi usually give for 10+ people.

Just looked back on some old CC statements, I had a set of Coilovers sent via USPS a few months ago for my Accord, shipping was $70US + $80Cad for customs etc. So shipping suspension via USPS will be ~ $180-up CAD. It's definately cheaper and faster via DHL.

gerard,

The meeting was on the 27th and Jack and I met at the second cup. No one else showed up

As it relates to sourcing the AGX's locally, I went to Kal Tire to see what prices they would give for these struts. They told me that the struts would cost C$1,080! I laughed in their faces!!! They did suggest that I try one more place, so I will keep you guys posted.

SO far, my advice is to go through Jack and get the struts for US$400!

Cheers,
MB

Markus - I think there were a few other guys that were interested as well. If we do get more people... I'll see what kind of price Chris @ TRi would be able to do for us.

Man, at $1080 was that even with tax? But like I told you at the meeting, the AGX's to get them in Canada is mucho dinero!

Here's a link for you if you're looking at the KYB/AGX struts. Email Keving Gibson from Gibson Performance (outside of Montreal). Here's his email gibsonperformance@videotron.ca

He quoted me $760 plus GST last year. He deals with lots of Ottawa car owners (Integra, Civic and subaru).

Tell him I referred you.

Hi guys,

Checked out my other source today for the AGX's and the preliminary price (before GST) is C$192.16 a corner (that's C$768.64 for all four for those of you not so mathmatically inclinded). The guy that normally takes care of strut sales was not in so I dealt with a temp guy. We checked over the KYB catalog and the part numbers match with the ones that Subie Gal gave me a while back so we definately are talking the correct struts. He was simply taking the price on the computer and was not sure if they would be willing to lower the price, I will have to check with the "regular strut guy" when he gets back to work. I broached the idea of a group sale of 5 or more and he again told me to talk to the "regular strut guy" when he comes back.

This price is a whole lot better than the price that Kal Tire was quoting me and if I don't have to pay for shipping and can get them locally, its probably not a bad price. I will keep you abreast of any price reduction once I talk to the "regular strut guy"

If I can get the struts for $750 a set, who in N. Alberta would be interested in getting a set of the AGX's. They are highly rated struts for the price you are paying. Including the cost of my Whiteline springs, that's still under C$1000 for a dampening adjustable lowered suspension...not bad!!

Also, to make things really interesting, the KYB catalog that I was looking at had the part number of an AGX/Eibach "lowering kit" for the Impreza right beside the AGX strut part numbers. Any one interested in that kind of a setup? Let me know and I'll start asking questions.

Cheers,
MB

Guys, I'm going to be talking to Chris @ TRi Tuning, hopefully later today. I'll see if I can do any better for you guys on the suspension. Mine you @ $400US for 4 AGX's w/ an exchange rate ~1.55CDN:1.00US, that's $620CDN, with shipping it would be no more than $700CDN shipped. I'll see what I can do, maybe I can get the TEIN springs & AGX's for you guys for $625USD shipped. I'll keep you guys posted.

Best Regards,

Jack

Just to keep everyone up to date in terms of what I have been trying to find locally, I talked to the "regular strut guy" at Gregg Distributors this morning. Here's the low down.

C$192.16 (not including GST) a corner is the best he can do for price for the AGX's, but, there's a catch. He won't order them in unless I get them to him in multiples of 4!!

Secondly, he gave me the price of the kit for the eibach springs and the best price he can do for 4 springs only is C$451.09 (not including GST), and will only order them in multiples of 2!! That would be a grand total of C$1305.11 including the GST if you went with an AGX/Eibach suspension system through Gregg Distributors.

To make a long story short, it looks like the deal with Jack and TRi is a taker.

Jack, why don't you start a different thread so we can eliminate any confusion here.

I do not want any springs, but I do want a full breakdown of costs (parts, shipping, duty, GST, etc.) for a set of the AGX struts. Can you please provide that on a sepreate post? Thanks!!

Cheers,
MB
