Which bumper beam did you use on your JDM GC8 front bumper conversion?

Hey guys.
I set up a poll for the GC8/classic/Impreza 2.5RS owners who have done a JDM (big foglight) front bumper conversion. I would like to see what kind of bumper beams they decided to use.

Which bumper beam did you use on your JDM GC8 front bumper conversion?

first of all, its not JDM.. its usdm, aswell as jdm.. or basicly anything not canadain... and you SHOULD use the usdm rebar as its the strongest. its your safety at risk, a couple hundred extra for the better rebar is worth it. the jdm one is just enough to hold the bumper in place, thats it

whos got a pic of a cut beam? it wouldnt be hard to weld in reinforcements to make up for the material lost.

try explaining that to icbc when u get in accident tho..

any modification to your rebar and they could void your insurance after you get in your accident

I read an install writup for the JDM beam, and the guy who wrote it said he was leaning on the bumper beam and accidentally bent it. Are you sure you want that "protecting" you from the rest of the crazy drivers out there?

um if they see it? they dont even look at it. ive never had them come and investgate the condition of a rebar (ever!) i got sandwiched in my EG civic with NO rebars and they covered me 100%. - besides - i bought the car like that .... right?

have u seen pics of a cut up rebar.. theres nothing left of it. And they DO check to see if the car had rebar and all that stuff, maybe not always, but they do. If you bought th car like that or not, it doesnt matter at all. Its your car at the time. Im just letting saying so that if someone has a problem.. they dont come back here bitching cause icbc didnt cover them cause 'they didnt know'

Thanks for all the info.
But I know almost all the pros and cons of each bumper beam, and I know which one I'm going to go with and why. For when I eventually do my conversion.
I was just wonder which beam people used. So I made a small survey to ask on which bumper beam did people use.
I used the term JDM so everyone knew exactly which bumper I was talking about. Since in '98 the US got the same bumper as we have, and most vendors (that I know of) have it marked on their websites as GC8, JDM and/or Ver5 front bumper.

They'll check the bumper beam if theres any amount of cash involved... (and Im not talking about $15000 to get your car repaired, thats nothing for ICBC)
